Hi I'm Dixie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I am a wife, mom, and grandma. I am married to the love of my life. There are many times that I find myself thanking Heavenly Father for allowing me to meet him. We are a blended family and have 6 children , 12 grandchildren, and one more grandson on the way. We feel very blessed with such a beautiful family. We only have one child left at home, she is presently in high school. I grew up in a family where my parents always valued a college education so I obediently went to college after High School. I always wanted to be a teacher so I went to college and earned a Bachelor degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. I have always felt fortunate to love the subjects I teach which includes the following , Early Childhood Education, Culinary Arts, Interior Design, and Fashion Design. I have used my college education many times to help me be a better mother and homemaker. I love to create things whether it is sewing, painting, remodeling houses, or starting new programs in my profession. I enjoy the challenge of creating. I love to run and have been fortunate to have found a handful of running partners that I have been able to form deep friendships with. My most cherished running partner is my husband. He had never ran before we met until I talked him into running with me. Now he is HOOKED! We ran our first 1/2 marathon together. He is sweet enough to run my pace when we run and even acts like he doesn't mind running slow.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me peace in a troubled world. I feel deep gratitude to my Father in Heaven for all the many blessings that I enjoy on a daily basis. I have a deep testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ. I feel that being a Mormon teaches me how to better live like my Savior. I love the fact that we are not in this world alone but our Heavenly Father has provided clarity and protection as we live live by the teaching of the Prophet of God upon this earth. I love that you don't have to take my word about this but our church promotes gaining your own witness of the the doctrine and principles. I have felt many times in my life the hand of the Lord guiding me and helping me become more like Jesus Christ. During times of sadness or trouble I find comfort in knowing that God is at the helm and whatever I pass through will help me become more like my Savior if I will reach out to him and remain humble.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping to serve others in the community and our church. I have served in many capacities. Each of these capacities have stretched me and taught me many leadership skills that I have been able to use in many facets of my life. I find that the more I serve others the more my love for them increases.
