Hi I'm Lee

I live in Colorado and teach at a local college. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach energy classes at the local community college, following a career in engineering. I love it! I get to be part of the conversation that we - as a people - have about energy use, comfort level, profitability, and how these don't have to be mutually exclusive goals. Next spring I plan to start working on my Master's Degree. I love to volunteer at the Humane Society and play with my rescue dog - she's a bit of a clown :p I've been a fervent fan of disc golf since 1997; I even helped out at the World Tournament in Michigan in 2000. This winter I'd like to try my hand at snow shoeing.... I enjoy watching movies (scary ones are the best!) and football games.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Nazarene church, and it was very nice, but I never felt like I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or my Heavenly Father. When I joined the military after high school I stopped attending church and came to believe that no "organized religion" could bring me closer to God. One day a friend arranged for the full-time missionaries to visit my home and leave me with a copy of the Book of Mormon; I agreed to read a few pages and let them know what I thought. I'm so glad that I actually did! Within a few pages I knew that I had stumbled onto truths that I had been missing my entire life. I prayed - to know if what I was reading was true & had actually happened - and I received a sweet confirmation from the Holy Ghost that this was truly another Testament of the Christ.

How I live my faith

The LDS church is unlike any I've ever experienced before: the organization and structure are truly inspired by the Lord. I count it as a blessing to help the men of my congregation learn how to better support and guide their families through Gospel principles. I'm not really sure if the church's ideals of service & community appeal to me because of the way I live my life, or vice versa, but it's a perfect fit for me. I have so many opportunities to visit & share with friends, and serve others in my community (and be the recipient of some wonderful service as well!); this is truly the church established by Christ during his ministry on the Earth.
