Hi I'm Andy.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, but have lived in Texas, Arizona and California. I served a Mandarin-Chinese speaking mission in Houston, Texas and found it to be one of the most-rewarding experiences of my life. I married my best friend and am a proud father of two boys and one girl. If you give me a patch of green grass and a 9-iron, I'm happy. Photography is interesting to me and have ventured into that hobby in more detail more recently. Beyond that, my family keeps me busy, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up as a Mormon all my life, I still had to find my own testimony as I came to my more influential years. Several key experiences happened in my youth and then were reiterated later in my life to culminate into a testimony of the Church and the message it brings. One of the most life-defining experiences I've had was when I was diagnosed and ultimately treated for Leukemia at 14 years old. The disease came back the second time while I was in college at 22 years old. Through the experiences and roller coaster that is cancer, and a few lessons in the school of hard knocks, I came to forge a testimony of my Savior. His unconditional love and mercy helped to blaze a trail into my soul that has stuck with me ever since. Yes, I was born into a Mormon family and was taught the Gospel since I was in diapers, but it was not enough for me to stand in front of another and say, "yes, I believe the church is true because my parents told me it was". I had to find out for myself. I've loved it ever since.

How I live my faith

For now, I teach a class to help other young men and women prepare to go on their missions. I love it. It helps me relive those "glory days" of walking the streets of Chinatown in Houston, Texas. What a great time of life that was. My daily goal is to try and live by the same principles I ask the young men and women to live. I've yet to find the level of satisfaction in my life from any other source then when I'm trying to serve another person and I try to get closer to Christ. I'm not perfect and will never proclaim to be, but I'm trying!
