Hi I'm Roger

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in SW Oregon on the Pacific Coast. I'm an Engineer now living in NE Washington.

About Me

I grew up in Oregon, went on a mission to Geneva, Switzerland, went to college in Hawaii, Oregon State and Portland State. I graduated with a BS Chemistry and an MS in Mech. Eng. My family includes my wife and 3 children. The oldest is getting ready to go on a mission to Colorado Springs. All three are very talented musically including vocals, cello, violin, and piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been blessed with being able to recognize the Lord's hand in my life. I grew up in an awesome family with a mom and dad who stayed together and loved one another. My dad was a medical Dr. and as a high school student walking down the street one of my dad's patients recognized me and mentioned he saw my parents walking down the street, holding hands. I never was embarrassed of them. My dad always would tell me to treat my wife like a queen and she will treat me like a king. Our religion focuses on a Christ centered family. In fact one of our latter day Prophets said that in order to change the world, we need to strengthen our families. Christ has always been a big part of my life. I look to Him in all things and know that with His help, I can accomplish all things in righteousness. I know that the Lord loves us enough to continue to give us modern revelation, that we have a prophet today who receives revelation for the world, that the gospel was re-established on the earth because so many truths were lost after the death of Christ and His apostles. I have had witness by the Holy Ghost that these things are true. God knows that these things were made clear to me and I know that God knows. I would never be able to deny these truths. And the best part is, every human can KNOW these things for themselves if they so desire.

How I live my faith

I try every day to be honest with my family, to serve my brothers and sisters in the church and community, and to be honest in my work. I had a great job as a Director of Quality at a respected contract manufacturer and was laid off because a V.P. asked me to lie about some quality results to one of our biggest customers. I was able to be honest with the customer, tell them what went wrong and how we were addressing the issue so it would not happen again. Even though the customer was happy with the response, the V.P. was upset with me and let me know it time and again until I was laid off. Sometimes we have to have enough courage to do what is right even though it may have a negative impact on us or our loved ones. Last weekend we worked with other wards (local congregations) of our church and invited the community and other religious congregations to help us to re-paint one of our school district's grade schools. We had a great turn out, worked from 8am to 2pm and the school looked great and we made new friends. We try daily to be more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and in doing good to all mankind. Jesus Christ is the perfect example for us to emulate. He loved all those around Him and He still loves each of us today. He has asked us to love each other as He has loved us. Through Him we can know the peace that forgiveness of our sins brings and the peace of know that we are doing the right thing.
