Hi I'm Phyllis

I'm a wife, mother and homemaker. I live in Austin, Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I read voraciously. I also enjoy sewing, counted cross stitch, and card making. I have two grown children and look forward to becoming a grandmother.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church. When I was in college, I began a search for a religion that answered all the questions which were not answered by the religion in which I was raised. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints answered all of those questions, giving more meaning and purpose to my life. I had always believed that I had been created in the image of my Heavenly Father. How wonderful to learn that I am His daughter, that He loves me, and that I can return to His presence someday if I prove myself worthy.

How I live my faith

I am currently a teacher in the woman's organization at church. In the past, I also taught three-year-olds and worked with the teenage girls. When my children were at home, I was actively involved in their schools working as a reading tutor, and in the library and counselor's office. My 87-year-old friend and I also help deliver Meals on Wheels.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

The Church has a Humanitarian Aid fund where 100% of the donations are used to help people throughout the world who are in need. They have given assistance including food, water, emergency housing, etc. to victims of disasters such as the Indonesian tsunami, the earthquake in Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, famines in various countries, and numerous other natural disasters. We believe that all men are brothers, and I am proud to be part of an organization that takes to heart the Savior's admonition to be our brother's keeper. Show more Show less
