Hi I'm Evan Stolk

I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm a musician. I'm a runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have the unique opportunity and privilege of serving a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am currently serving in the Washington DC - North, Spanish Speaking Mission. During these two years, I will be inviting everyone to follow Jesus Christ, in the Spanish Language. I am a musician. I am the lead singer of a band called Sunset Summer. I have a family with three sisters and a mother and father. I love the outdoors. Born and raised in Colorado, I love to snowboard. Most importantly, I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into this church, there came a time in my life where I wasn't sure what I should do. At about the age of 12, I wanted to know for myself for sure that this gospel was true. My friends were beginning to make decisions that would lead them down the wrong path, not congruent with the teachings of my church. So I was determined to know the truth of the church for myself. One day I was reading in Joseph Smith History verse 12, where Joseph talks about how he felt about the scripture, James 1:5. He talks about the incredible feeling that overwhelmed him. That very same feeling penetrated my heart that day, proving to me that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet and that this gospel really is the restored gospel. As I grew older and friends began making worse and worse decisions, the choice was easy for me. I was to prepare myself to serve a mission because I already knew that it was correct. So my personal testimony is that if you gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon and the fact that we have real prophets today that truly receive direction from God, having the willpower and the strength to "choose the harder right above the easier wrong" comes easily and naturally. I love this gospel. The knowledge, the guidance, the feelings, the happiness, everything that comes from living this gospel is second to nothing. This is the reason that I am a Mormon and this is the reason I have chosen to consecrate two years of my life to help others experience this same everything.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, I spend 100% of my time living my faith. I love to study the scriptures and find things that I can apply to myself, as well as others that I am teaching. I love the gospel. Serving a mission is such a unique opportunity. I am able to drop everything and spend two years teaching and living this gospel that I love so much.
