Hi I'm Alison

I believe in second chances & kindness. I'm a daughter, sister, & friend; A blogger, traveler, & Husker. ...& I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 21-year-old junior in college, and am majoring in Elementary Education with English as a Second Language and Early Childhood. (Basically, I want to teach children who come from homes in which English is not the primary language.) I love to travel, and spent about 5 months in China last year, going to school and teaching English. I was raised in a small town in the Mid-West and am the youngest of three girls. My family is very important to me. I love to sing, dance, and be outdoors. My favorite hobbies are photography and blogging.

Why I am a Mormon

I have not always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized in July 2010. It was the last thing I thought I wanted in my life, and it turned out to be the absolute best thing to ever happen to me. I was a train wreck, before the Gospel. It has impacted my life more than I can possibly explain. I am an entirely different person. I can honestly say that, while following Christ has not always been the "easy" choice, it has been the best choice for me. I have seen what life is like with and without Christ, and I can promise you that it is so much brighter, with Him. I have such a sense of peace in my life, because I'm following the commandments. I know that as we strive to follow the commandments, and show others the light of Christ in our lives, we are blessed. I have seen those blessings in my life. I know that Heavenly Father lives, and I know that He knows my heart. I know that God loves me more than I can possibly comprehend, and I know that it pleases Him when I make right choices. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins. I know that Christ has felt all of our heartaches and trials, because He loves each of us personally. I know that He atoned for our sins, not because He had to, but because He loved us enough to do so. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for us, and that His plan is one of joy and peace. I know that this plan is for everyone and that He wants us to all return to be with Him again someday. I am so grateful for this church, for our leaders, and for the peace and joy it has brought into my life. I know that everyone can have that same sense of peace and joy, through faith. I urge you to also learn about our beliefs.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith on a daily basis. By following God's commandments, I am living my faith. I pray to seek guidance several times daily. I also read my scriptures, which helps me be closer to Heavenly Father and know what He wants me to learn. I do my best to bear my testimony with not only words, but also my actions. Another way I live my faith is by attending church every Sunday. I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet with others who share my beliefs, partake of the Sacrament, and feel refreshed each week.
