Hi I'm Kent

Father of six, business owner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud father of six dynamic kids, the cutest grandson EVER, and our 1st granddaughter recently arrived. Married to my high school sweet heart for 24 years. I have spent the last 8 years as a real estate investor and love the thrill of the chase. I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling with my better half.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member since birth, as were my parents and all of my grandparents. When I was about 10, my parents divorced. At the time, I didn't know what "divorce" meant. I felt angry and confused. In time I realized that I had to take the challenge near the end of the Book of Mormon and ask God if any of these things were true. Through earnest prayer and scripture study, I was blessed with a knowledge that the Church is in fact exactly what Joseph Smith said it was. It is the restoration of Christ's Church. The priesthood power and authority that Christ had given to the original twelve was indeed restored. What a blessing! The experiences that I had and the things that I felt as I sought answers to those questions are truly a gift from a loving Heavenly Father. I am truly grateful for the knowledge of who I am and what the purpose of my life is.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the Church and have spent most of my time teaching the youth. I love helping young people find answers to the tough questions that I faced at their age. We pray and play as a family as much as we can. We don't work on Sundays as we focus on attending Church meetings and spending time as a family throughout the day. It is my favorite day of the week to be sure! We find opportunities to serve others in many ways as well. I seek inspiration through prayer and scripture study and enjoy some quiet time on Sunday mornings to read and learn about the Gospel and to reflect on the past week. We encourage our kids to be engaged in worthy causes, including: Boy Scouts, school sports, music and service.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

I believe, as do many protestant Christians that the original Church that Christ established was lost over a period of time. Indeed, as Mormons we believe in the "falling away" that is described in the New Testament (Amos 8:11-12, Acts 20:29-30). Gods Church is and has always been a Church of immutable laws and order. Ordinances are a part of the established order as the Savior himself demonstrated through Baptism. If Christ had the need to be baptized from one with proper authority, then surely we do to! So with the priesthood being lost through apostasy, and an eternal requirement for saving ordinances looming, a restoration was absolutely required. We solemnly proclaim that the Priesthood of God has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, as prophesied by Peter (Acts 3:19-21). The same Priesthood that existed in the primitive Church is on the Earth today! Show more Show less
