Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in Illinois and moved to Arizona. I'm an appraiser, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for over 18 years. I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor degree in business. I enjoy spending time with my family and going camping with my sons. I am self employed and have my own small business.

Why I am a Mormon

I am not quite sure how to put into words, "Why I am a Mormon". The moral compass it gives me and to my family; the strength and guidance that my family and I get in a ever more troubled world; the joy I feel in being a part of it; the testimony of Christ we have/live in our life are all a part of why I am a Mormon. I have a 16 year old daughter who knows our morals and expectations. She dresses modistly and is chase. She plays the piano and loves to sing. She lives as she was taught when she was very young, a good, moral daughter of God. I have a 13 year old son who is finishing his eagle project for the boy scouts. The Mormon church has great programs for the youth...for the young men that help him, my son, to learn how to be a man; to be responsible for his own actions, to respect women, and to prepare to be as God wants him to be... a righteous patriarch of his own future home. I have two other younger children who are under 10 years old. They live in a home of love; a home where I love my wife (their mom) and she loves me. We pray together and read scriptures together. We strive to follow the teaching of Christ. They live in an environment where they feel safe. They live in an environment to grow into assets to their country, assets to their future wives/children, into men of God. Why am I Mormon? I am Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Church of Christ. His teachings, His gospel, His expectations for me are found here. I know how He (Christ) wants me to interact with my wife, children, business partners, clients, and associates. I have peace in my heart and I have joy within my home, because of the principles and doctrines taught within the Mormon Church.

How I live my faith

I have been asked to teach early morning seminary. I meet with 25 young men/young women every morning before high school starts to lead discussions and teach the Old Testament. We meet for an hour. We open with a hymn and prayer. Then we dive into the wonderful stories of the Old Testament. We learn about Adam and Eve; Abraham and his wife Sarah; Isaac and the 12 tribes of Isreal. We get to learn about the writings/prophecies of Isaiah and read the promises God gives us through Malachi. Teaching seminary has been a great blessing in my life. The strength of reading the scriptures and sharing my testimony with others helps me to keep the commandments. As I read the Old & New Testaments, I am reminded to love my neighbors; to do good to all those around me. The church offers opportunities to serve others. I had the opportunity to lead a gospel discuss in the prison ministries the other day. I was able to see men strive to change their lives and look towards Christ for a remission of their sins. I am a home teacher. I visit two member families on a monthly basis. I go to their home and teach a short gospel message. I check to see how they are doing and if they need anything. I also have someone from the church come and visit my family on a monthly basis. He comes and checks with my family to make sure we are well. I strive to live as Christ taught within the scriptures. I strive to comfort those that need to be comforted, mourn with those that mourn, and stand as a witness of Christ at all times.
