Hi I'm Perry (PJ).

I'm a loving Husband and father of 6 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an avid gun collector. I've worked in sales for most of my life. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. We love to go hiking, stream fishing, and rafting. When I have a quiet moment, all to myself, I love to read the scriptures.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member, and I gained my own testimony in my later teens. It changed me to be the type of father I wanted. I often wonder where I would have been without the Church. I'm a Mormon because I know the church is true.

How I live my faith

I'm the Sunday school teacher for the 12 year olds. I think I enjoy being with them sometimes more than they enjoy being with me. I wish I could say that I teach them, but they teach me more. They can be so blunt and upfront with their questions, but I know that they are deep. We have fun learning together. My usually classes run a little late, but none of them complain, but that might be because I bring cookies and treats.

What is the First Vision?

Perry (PJ).
As a young boy, I felt all churches were true. Not just Christianity. I didn't understand how there could be so much bitterness. I always felt like there was One God and that He loved all of His children. I came to a similar question as the boy Joseph did. All churches say that they're right, but the doctrines differ in many ways. I went to a quiet sacred spot of my own, wanting to know if Joseph Smith did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. With a sincere prayer, and a broken heart, I can say that my prayers were answered. With great joy and happiness, like Joseph Smith, my prayers were answered that a young boy, with no real education, how he could explain why we call God, our Father in Heaven. Also, the reason why we call His son, our eldest Brother, The Only Begotten of the Father. This changed my perspective on the Trinity. It makes sense that they are one in purpose. Like when Christ was baptized and the Father spoke and said, This is my Beloved Son, of whom I am well pleased. Then He sent the Holy Ghost in the form of a dove as a witness to John the Baptist of The Messiah. The feeling of unexplainable joy, overwhelmed me. I felt as though my chest and heart was burning from the inside. When I recall that day, those feelings come back as a reassurance knowing that Joseph Smith did see God the Father and His son. My testimony grows as I learn about the new and everlasting gospel that was restored. He leads us by Prophets today, just like of old. Show more Show less
