Hi I'm Amanda Ward!

I'm a violinist, a college student, a fan of Star Wars, naps, chocolate, and Christmas, a future missionary, and a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Gilbert, Arizona and recently completed my fist year at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I am studying Health Science, and hope to go into pediatrics (I love children!). I also really enjoy music, and have been playing the violin for the past ten years. Some of my favorite things include good movies and books as well as spending time with my friends and family. I also love being outdoors! Also eating breakfast cereal...That is one of my favorite activities! I have a passion for the desert and its beauty! Arizona will always have my heart:) I am deferring my schooling for 18 months to serve a full-time mission in the Mexico City West Mission. I report on September 17th, 2014, and absolutely cannot wait! I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my entire life, and have experienced so much peace and genuine joy because of the message of God's love for His children and Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am so thrilled and honored to act as a representative of the Lord and to bring this message of hope to others in Mexico City!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a devout LDS family. Growing up, I was taught about Jesus Christ and about the scriptures. As I progressed into my teenage years, I wanted to know for myself whether or not the teaching of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were correct, and whether Jesus Christ is truly the Savior of the world. I wanted to know for myself, and not merely claim to believe because it was my family's faith. I began to read the Book of Mormon more frequently. I began to pray to my Heavenly Father with more sincerity. It took a great deal of time and study, but I can say that I have discovered for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. Its teachings have brought me so much peace. I know Christ is the Savior, and that He suffered for our sins, sadnesses, and hardships. He is my best friend. I am so grateful for the Holy Spirit and for this beautiful world that God has created for us. I know that we are all children of Heavenly Father, and His greatest desire is for us to be happy and to come unto Him. I love the gospel, and I know it has the power to change lives--because it has truly changed mine.

How I live my faith

I believe that the best way I can truly live my faith is by trying to emulate my life after the Savior's. While I know I will always fall short of Christ's perfect example, I have found by looking for the good in others, in myself, and in situations that I face, I can invite light and goodness into my life and the lives of others. I think one of the best ways to live the Gospel is to smile! The Lord has given us so much hope! We are taught that we are children of God and that He desires our happiness. By praying for God's help and striving to be optimistic and caring, I can bring the Spirit of the Savior and the warmth of His unconditional love into my heart--and in turn, share that love with those around me. I am so happy with the life I have chosen within this church, as well as the choice I have made to serve a mission, and I hope that my actions and words convey my gratitude for the Savior and for this Gospel.
