Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a mother, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a friend and a daughter of God. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm married with 4 kids ages 13, 10, 6 and 2. I'm a stay at home mom, aka domestic engineer. :) I love to crochet, play the piano and flute, do organization projects and learn new crafts. When I get the chance I love to read a great book. I have to plan time for it though because once I start I don't want to put it down and I have to finish it in one sitting. :) I enjoy sports and played lots in highschool, but now that I'm older my body isn't cooperating as much. I went to Snow College in Ephraim, UT for a little while, but haven't completed my degree. I'd love to return to college and become a nurse.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My parents are amazing parents that are strong members of the church. My father's side has many members, but my mother is a convert and the only member from her side. I was born in Utah and therefore was born into the Mormon culture. It was just the way of life when I was a child. When I married my husband we moved to the East Coast and the mormon culture was the minority. It was a culture shock for me but it allowed me to strengthen my testimony and allowed me to learn what was important and what wasn't. I've never doubted the gospel teachings and their truthfulness. We've moved around the country and I've lived in 4 different states besides Utah. Throughout those years my testimony has only grown stronger. Being in different areas of the country has taught me that the church is the same wherever you go. It is such a comfort knowing the church will always be there and will be a guiding light to me and my family.

How I live my faith

I am the Primary President in my ward. I work with the young children in our church. It is amazing to be a part of these children's lives and watch their testimonies of the gospel grow. They are an inspiration to me. I'm also a visiting teacher. I visit other women in our church in their homes. It is a great opportunity to share gospel messages and to just get to know each other outside of church on Sunday. I've had many opportunities to serve my visiting teaching women and I appreciate the opportunity to show them that the Lord loves them and is mindful of them. I love being able to teach my own children in our home about Jesus and his teachings. We love to sing songs around the piano and talk about what our children want to now about the gospel. I do my best to be an example each day.
