Hi I'm Christian

I live in Western Washington. I'm father of 6. I'm a software engineer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in the western part of Washington State almost all my life and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Being parents of 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls), my wife and I stay very busy running here and there, to soccer and/or dance practice, piano lessons, scouts, and other activities. I graduated from the University of Washington in 1998 (go huskies!!!) and I now enjoy a career as a software engineer. I also enjoy jogging with the kids, camping near the beach with the family, and going to movies with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I wouldn't be a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints if I didn't believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. This testimony was given to me when I was called upon to read the account of a vision he received to a group of young children. "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me...When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" As I read this account, a feeling of peace and warmth entered my heart, a feeling which was undeniable, and I knew it to be true. Since this experience, I have had hundreds, and even thousands, of experiences like it, adding strength to my testimony in the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition, the fruits of living these teachings have brought happiness and peace to myself and those around me. The perspective that the gospel has given me has allowed me to approach life as a great opportunity to learn and improve myself.

How I live my faith

The teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ affect nearly every aspect of my life, whether it be in my relationship with my wife, in raising my children, in my work, or at play. The Lord has blessed me by helping me learn that happiness comes through losing myself in service to others. As such, I am active in service to my family, church, and community. At home, we hold special weekly family home evenings, a time we have set aside for learning the gospel, giving service, and participating in recreational activities together. We also have daily scripture study and family prayer. At church, I serve as the Sunday School President, as a home teacher, and in other opportunities. In the community, my wife and I look for opportunities to serve together as a family. We contribute where we can. I'm grateful for the opportunity of learning and growth that these experiences present both to myself and my family.
