Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a pro-bono personal assistant for 10, I'm a volunteer for life, I laugh outloud and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California, West Covina, and moved with my family to Mesa, Arizona to finish High School. I am the oldest of three children of Glenn and Marcia Shields. I married my college sweetheart, Tim Cowley. We both took the opportuniity to graduate from Arizona State University. I majored in Speech Pathology and Audiology. We intentionally had 9 children and have loved the ride of raising them. We currently live in Mesa and continue to be involved in the community.

Why I am a Mormon

The peace and love i'm able to feel in my heart is priceless. Having divine direction available to me on behalf of myself and my family has blessed our lives more than I am probably aware of. Knowledge is key to the decisions I make and knowing that their is a God out there who is aware of me and my life pushes me to gain more knowledge to become more like him. I'm his spiritual daughter and for that knowledge I will be eternally grateful. I know God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to make it possible for us to return to God by suffering for our imperfections. I will spend the rest of my life attempting to make Christ's suffering not in vain. I try to apply the atonement in almost every facet of my life. It has saved me from so many pains that would have been more than I could bare. I'm a grateful and indebted member of God's eternal family.

How I live my faith

I have the chance to work with the young women in our ward. These girls range from age 12-18 and I love them deeply. We have lessons on Sundays that teach us how to become strong in faith and morals. We also meet on one weeknight a week to have activities that allow us to give service and to learn skills that will be needed in life. Serving in the church is a painful gift because in the beginning I have always felt so inept to perform what is being asked of me but when I take the leap to try I soon find that I'm developing in areas that were weak. At the end of my serving in any area I'm a better, more well-rounded person for having tried.
