Hi I'm Telford

I was born in Landstuhl, Germany but grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I love hiking, golf and college football and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married father of 3 children, two boys and a girl. I graduated from college with an Accounting degree. I love to golf. I love college football. I love the outdoors. My fondest memories are of hiking through the White Mountains of northeast Arizona as a Boy Scout. The joy and peace I felt walking along those trails are a treasured memory. I love homebuilding. I find it to be a great source of accomplishment when starting at the ground level and finishing with a home that someone will treasure.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church, but during my teenage years, I experienced great sadness, from the abandonment of my father, losing my testimony and then the sudden death of my mother. I was lost. I had experienced an enormous amount of tragedy for someone of my age. I had lost feelings of hope, and love. I had few friends. After the death of my mother, I knew the only place left to turn, was to my Savior, Jesus Christ and the teachings of his Gospel. I grew up knowing the Gospel was true. I still had the foundations from when I was a child. No sooner had I decided to turn my life back to him, when I met the love of my life. She came along right at that time and I knew that my Heavenly Father had sent her to me. She taught me what true selfless love was like. She made me laugh again. She taught me how to treat people with love and kindness. How could I deny the power of God? He had sent her to me when everything else had left me. We are still married after 21 years. Our family experiences many ups and downs, but the one constant that has remained throughout my life and in our home is the infinite love of my Heavenly Father through the Atonement of his son, Jesus Christ and the ends to which they both will go to show that love to me and my family. I am so blessed to see that love manifested in the lives of my children and the true joy they experience. I am confident you would love to see more of it in the lives of your children. That is the absolute beauty of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is nothing better.

How I live my faith

As a family we have made a commitment to attend our regular church meetings every Sunday, even when out of town. That is one great thing about the church, in that it is consistently the same, no matter where on earth you are. The meetings are, by and large, the same. The love and kindness of the people are the same. You will feel it when you walk in the doors. It is the safest place on earth. One calling in the church that I have, is as a "Home Teacher". I get to visit two families in our ward that I have been assigned to each month. I go to their home with my fifteen year old son as a companion. I visit with them and their children, engage in conversations about their lives, successes and needs, or any other thing they might like to talk about. I bring them a short message about the Gospel. I am responsible to see that any needs are filled, in case they have challenges requiring outside help. I close the visit with a prayer and a blessing on their home and family. That prayer includes asking for inspiration on how to help them, that their needs will be met and that they will be blessed to find joy and happiness. What a great blessing in my life to have this responsibility for two other families. I also have Home Teachers, who visit me and my family each month. They have the same responsibilities to us and my family is truly blessed because of it. I have just recently been called as the Sunday School President. It is my responsibility to see that the doctrines and principles of the gospel are taught to those 12 and up. This takes place usually during the middle hour of our 3 hour meeting block. I testify to you, that attending our church meetings, reading scriptures and praying together as a family, and visiting with other Ward members, are the tools to receiving the strength my family needs during even the most difficult circumstances that life has to offer. I am truly blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Telford
It is truly possible to find real joy on this earth. Have you ever known a good and faithful Mormon who was generally unhappy? Think about it. I am not saying they don't have bad days every so often, but to me they seem like they are generally happier than most other people, as a whole. The reason is simple. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives us all the answers to the challenges of life. It does not take the challenges away but when living the true principles of the Gospel, those challenges are far easier to endure and this is a great blessing to me and my family. Show more Show less
