Hi I'm Darleen

I'm a Mormon. I am a convert, baptized 64 years ago.

About Me

I am the proud mother of a large family, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. My mother taught me the joys and satisfaction of creating beautiful handwork. I love to crochet afghans and doilies for my family and for others. I also love to read and learn. Through the years, as our children have become adults with families of their own, I can proudly say that they are our best friends. We stay close (emotionally and supportively, if not in proximity) and encourage personal improvement. I love to travel with my husband of 60 years to visit family, whenever the opportunity and our health allows. We have always loved to travel, and have had some memorable experiences over the years. Although we have had set-backs, large and small (as has any family) our Faith in God has always carried us through. We receive strength daily by living the principles of the Everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town, where most of my friends were Mormons. I had a difficult home life, but my friends cared about me, encouraged me and gave me the love I lacked. As I interacted with them and their families, I became interested in their Christian beliefs and eventually I was baptized a member of the church. I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ is His Son. Christ atoned for my sins, which allows me to repent as I make mistakes. I know that one day I with live with them again, as well as with my entire family. I am thankful for the peace this knowledge brings to me.

How I live my faith

Throughout the years, I have been blessed to have opportunities to teach women, young women and children the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has always been my pleasure to teach, because as I study and prepare I am the one who receives more and more knowledge. We believe that we should continue through life studying and learning all worthwhile subjects, gaining not only spiritual but also knowledge of things as they were, as they are and as they will be.
