Hi I'm Rachael

I'm a scientist and an artist. I'm a wife and an aunt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a love of plants and two degrees in horticulture. Performing experiments on plants has been fascinating to me. While I have done many experiments in the laboratory and in the field, I now do most of my experimenting in the kitchen. While in college I developed several sensitivities to various foods, which led me on a search for healing, nutritious and delicious things that I could eat. While I love creating things in the kitchen, I also love creativity in general. I consider myself a Jane of all trades - I'll try making just about anything once. I enjoy learning, doing things with my hands, and sharing with others. I am married to a wonderful husband, who is supportive and patient with me and my aspirations and who inspires me to be a better person. Life is certainly challenging but also full of fun and opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always had a belief in Christ for as long as I can remember. Throughout my life I have come to learn and understand that when I follow the principles that Christ has taught, I am happy and hopeful - life is better. When I do not follow those principles, I become depressed and full of hopelessness and despair. I know that Christ suffered for my sins and the sins of the world. This knowledge inspires me to continue to work towards becoming a better person. There was a time when I had to choose between the thing that I thought I loved the most and living the gospel. I chose to give up that thing so that I could continue to have the gospel be a part of my life, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Living the gospel makes me incredibly happy.

How I live my faith

I have served in various ways in the past, such as teaching, leading the music, and organizing activities for a group of young adults. I currently participate in my ward by being a visiting teacher to other ladies in the ward. I also serve in a position with my husband in sharing and teaching the gospel to others.
