Hi I'm Chas

I love kettlebells, camping, adventure racing, and being a mormon! I joined the church in Germany when I was 23 years old.

About Me

First, I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me and has blessed me greatly. Included in those blessings are my wonderful husband and 5 children. I love spending time with them, especially camping, biking, & hiking. My most favorite form of exercise is working out with kettlebells. It's made such a difference in my life I wanted to share it with others. So, I run a kettlebell class each morning during the week for the sisters (or anyone who wants to) so they can become healthier and stronger. I also love food, especially cooking it and giving it away. Having Hispanic and Filipino in me, it took me a bit to realize after I had joined the church, that it was okay if someone didn't want any food when I offered it to them. There's nothing wrong with my cooking nor were they trying to offend.

Why I am a Mormon

It was at my Grandfather's funeral (of a different faith) that I felt that something just wasn't right. I didn't know what but I knew that my Grandfather's death couldn't be "the end" and so dismal. Soon after that we got stationed in Germany. After unsuccessfully trying to make friends my husband (who was inactive at the time) suggested we go to church because people there would be your friend. He took me and our daughter the first Sunday, then he had to work the next few Sundays, but I kept going back, I knew I needed something for me and our daughter and going to church felt right. I then started taking the discussions with the missionaries and as my husband sat in he was brought to a remembrance of what he knew to be true. I was then baptized and the during the next year we prepared to go to be sealed together in the Frankfurt Germany Temple. After many years of yearning for something but not knowing what, I finally found what I was missing in the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It has brought peace to my heart and mind and concepts and precepts to live by that will bring true happiness and joy to me and my family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday, the gospel has taught me to serve others. In my everyday interactions with my family- I do my best to lovingly teach my children the precepts of the gospel and how Jesus would want us to be. And with my husband- we've worked so hard over the years to build a strong, loving relationship and it has only gotten better and better with each passing year. In my interactions with others, I try to truly love them as the Savior would, how much better the world would be if everyone tried to love one another, instead of focusing on others shortcomings if they focused on what others could become. I love participating in the programs the church, I love that they not only have Sunday worship services but they have other programs for children, youth, and adults to enrich, strengthen and add to what we've learned on Sunday. I also love to let family, friends, coworkers & others who are not members of our church know that they are always welcome to come to any service, activity, or program. Just because they come, it doesn't automatically make them a member of the church, they can feel, see, learn and decide for themselves the truthfulness and joyfulness the gospel has. That's how I became a member- by going, experiencing, and learning for myself!
