Hi I'm Derek

I am an Arizona native, a husband, a father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to an incredible woman and I am the father of two awesome boys. My life is pretty hectic at times but my family makes everything worth it. They are a wonderful support to me and I am grateful to have them in my life. When I do have free time, I enjoy watching movies, playing some xbox, golfing, watching sports, and playing super heroes with my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a long ancestry in the church and so I was born into it. I was baptized when I was eight but my testimony of the church really began to grow when I was a teenager. I decided early in my teens that I wanted to find out for myself if the church was true. I began to study the Book of Mormon and pray about it's truthfulness. Through prayerful consideration, I knew in my heart that the Book of Mormon and the church are true and I could not deny the feeling that I had. I decided at that moment that I wanted to serve a mission and help others experience the same feeling and know of it's truthfulness. I went on to serve a mission in Brazil where my testimony continued to grow. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought so much joy and so many blessings into my life. I am grateful for being a member of the church and I know that I am where I am today because of it.

How I live my faith

I realize that I am not perfect but every day I try my best to live the teachings of my faith. I am always striving to be a better husband, father, neighbor, Christian, and overall, a better person. The most important way I live my faith is by doing all that I can to ensure my home is filled with love and support. My family is important to me and I do my best to make sure they know that. Every day, families are being dissolved and all they need to be strengthened is love and Christian values. I volunteer my time each Sunday to teach the youth of my ward and help them strive to be better Christians. Every Wednesday and some weekends, I also volunteer with the Boy Scouts as an assistant scout leader. Being Mormon helps me remember that I need to try to be honest and fair with others. One thing you will notice when interacting with a Mormon is you will always have someone who is willing to lend a helping hand.
