Hi I'm Dave

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with two children. I am a police officer with a local agency and take great pride in contributing to the safety of my community. I work currently with the youth (young men of scouting age) in my church. I have a BS degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State University and a Masters Degree in Administration from Northern Arizona University. I enjoy reading science fiction and suspense novels. I also enjoy movies and music, especially with my family. I also enjoy camping and bike riding.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this faith but there came a time when I had to find out for myself if it was true. I really started to look for answers and a reason to "be a Mormon" as I was starting college. I was always taught that the full Gospel of Jesus Christ was found here but I never really knew it until I read the Book of Mormon all the way through for the first time. I also prayed that God would tell me if it was true. I may not have received a booming voice or a life altering revelation, but I did receive an answer of the truthfulness of this Church, the Book of Mormon, and of our Savior Jesus Christ through subtle and quiet feelings that came to my heart and mind. What I love about being a member of His Church is that I have learned here what the purpose to life is, where I came from, and where I go when I die. I love this church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ because it is an anchor and provides security in an unstable world. I love being a Mormon because I feel like I have an extended family. No matter where I go in the world, I can find a Mormon Church and feel welcome, even though the faces may be new, the feelings and love among its members are the same.

How I live my faith

I attend meetings every Sunday at my local church building. I serve as a Hometeacher and visit two families in my church once a month to see how they are doing and if there is any needs that they have. I also give them a spiritual thought from our church leaders when I visit. I have a companion that goes with me as well. I enjoy getting out and visiting these families and serving them. I also serve by working with the young men in our ward in scouting and young men group activites. I find great joy in seeing these young men develop and grow to adulthood. The goal in working with them is to prepare them for an LDS mission, college, marriage, and fatherhood. Working with and teaching these young men gives me great hope that they will be future leaders and give great contributions, not only to the Church, but also to their communities and society. I live my faith by trying to set a good example to others. I try to be honest and a law abiding citizen. I try to love my fellow men and be forgiving. I try to not be judgemental of others and have compassion. I am not perfect at these things but I know that as I strive to do them, I am living more like the Savior Jesus Christ would want me to live.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Dave
I know there is a God because I have felt His influence and presence to comfort me in times of need. I see all the beauty of nature in this world and just know that His hand had everything to do with it. I look at the organization of life (plants, insects, animals, etc) and how they all compliment each other. I know that this all couldn't just have happened by some coincidence or accident. God lives and He is watching over us. Show more Show less
