Hi I'm Lawana

I'm a softball coachin', football watchin', education lovin', cub scout supportin', world travelin', mother of 6. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Texas, moved to New Mexico where we spent 9 years, then finished high school in Arizona. I graduated Co Valedictorian and went on to attend BYU where I graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Family and Social Sciences. I married the most wonderful man in the world and have 6 absolutely crazy, wonderful kids... 2 girls and 4 boys. I love the Boy Scout program, though I currently support the Cub scouts with my youngest son in the program. Being a mom keeps me pretty busy but in whatever spare time I have, I love to read, travel (worldwide is my preference), take new classes to learn new skills (cake decorating, guitar, flower arranging, scrapbooking, and jewelry making are among some of them), and sleep. I love to sleep! I hope to one day return to school for my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I love the premise that this earth life is patterned after where we came from and where we're going. All the work put into making a marriage work and helping your children become the best people they can be wouldn't be worth it if I knew that there was nothing after this for us. Everytime I look into the faces of my children, I see the potential of all they could be and know that God sees that in us. He models how to be the perfect parent and I strive to follow that. I love knowing that Jesus Christ suffered for me and for my sins that I'd be able to return to His presence. And that if I was the only one on Earth, that He would have done the same thing. I love knowing that it takes me doing all I can to be the best person I can and live His gospel and that He will make up for the rest. I live to know that one day I will be able to see my Savior and Redeemer face to face, fall down to worship Him, and thank Him for His precious gifts. This is my life's mission.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching my children about what it means to be a good, upstanding member of society. I take them to the bus driver to apologize when they have misbehaved and disrespected someone. I encourage positive interaction with neighbors and other adults. I teach them how to work by providing opportunities like mowing laws or cleaning homes. I teach my kids to serve others by taking them to people in need to help them however we can. I teach my kids and others by participating in the cub scout program which teaches them everyday skills, or introduces them to new ones. We teach them about Patriotism and respect for the Flag. How about how to take care of the resources God gave us by recycling and picking up trash? All of these things help to shape a child to be less entitled (which is my end goal)... This is what I do to show and live my faith.
