Hi I'm Rick Tuita

I'm a former College Football Player, Football Coach, Little League Manager, Business Owner, Tongan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Tongan born in Hawaii and raised in California. Married to my beautiful wife Heidi, we have two boys and two girls. I am an entrepreneur owning a Commercial Landscape Maintenance Company. Life gets really busy! My wife and I are heavily involved in our children’s lives. We get involved in their schools by volunteering to assist teachers. My wife and I were asked to teach students the Polynesian Culture in the School Districts Artist and Residence Program. I was a colligate athlete played football and enjoy all athletics. I currently enjoy coaching my kids in Baseball and Football. I currently coach High School Football at Liberty High School in Arizona. My daughters enjoy tumbling/dance and I enjoy watching! Our family loves to go on family vacations and do it often as possible. We get together with friends and family every week we play board games, sing, dance, and enjoy life. I also appreciate slow days and just taking it easy. I enjoy visiting the Pacific Northwest fishing the Willamette River or the Mackenzie River and catch Steelhead or Schnook. I love crabbing in the Pacific and deep sea fishing. I love traveling to watch football games like the Sugar Bowl, Rose Bowl and Dallas Cowboys. Most of all I just like being with my family doing whatever.

Why I am a Mormon

Many of my relatives are Mormon. My parents were not active in a church. There came a time in my life I was searching for truth. I wanted to know why there were so many religions teaching different doctrine of the Gospel. in Ephesians 4:5 is states "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism". It's very clear to me in Hebrews 13:8 it states " Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." So I studied to try to understand if there was One Faith, One way to baptize....why were there so many churches teachings contradictory to each other and the methods of the Lord and the way we should be baptized. I came to understand that the Lord loves us all. The Mormon Church for me has the most complete teachings of any religion where all the pieces of the puzzle just seem to fit. The god head, repentance, the atonement, faith in Jesus Christ, tithing, sacrament, prophets and apostles, families together forever, priesthood, temples, temple work, apostasy/dark ages, restoration...It answered questions I had...Where did we come from before earth life? Why are we here on earth and its purpose? And what happens to us and our spirits when we die at the conclusion of this life? The Mormon church to me resembled more closely the Church Of Jesus Christ in primitive times than any other church today. I read a Scripture in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:3-5 and it changed my life. I came to understand for my self that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the Church for me and my family! A Church for the world to come to love...a church that loves its members, a church established and modeled after Jesus Christ and his gospel and teachings, a church that has a fulness of the gospel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

How I live my faith

I have been serving in the church for the majority of years in what’s called the Young Men’s organization (boys ages 12-18). I enjoy teaching young men the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was in my early 20's I served as a full time missionary in the Philippines Tacloban Mission. It covered the Leyte and Samar Islands. It was a testimony building experience for sure as I was dedicated in doing what the Savior did during his earthly ministry. My day in the life would be living my life as the Savior would have me. Asking myself throughout the day, what would Jesus Christ do in this situation? Trying to live by example living an honest life with myself, family, friends and those I serve at work. We have family prayer every morning when we arise and evening prior to going to bed. We have a blessing on the food giving thanks for our meal and those that prepared it. We pray as a family for important events, sports, church, school, auditions, and interviews. Every Monday Evening we hold a family meeting opening with song, prayer. During this meeting we discuss family issues, challenges. We have a study time where we learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Wednesdays my children attend Young Men Activities at church where they have varying learning and fun activities. My son's seem to like playing basketball at the church. Kids are involved in the Scouting Program. Sundays we attend church meetings. We learn of Jesus Christ and his gospel and how to be better people by living gospel principles. I try and live my faith by staying very active in all the activities the church has to offer for me and my family. I have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. I know he died for me that I might return to live with my Father in Heaven as I repent of my sins. I know Jesus was resurrected and lives. Families can be together forever.
