Hi I'm Melanie

I live in the beautiful Inland Northwest. I'm a mother of 5. I love to go camping and hiking with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 children, and life is busy. I find joy daily in all the wonderful craziness motherhood can be. As a family we love to go camping, fishing, and canoeing. When I have some time, I also love to make homemade cards and other paper crafts. A few years ago, I taught myself how to decorate cakes, and have found a lot of joy helping with weddings and birthdays with that skill. I live in a very small farming town and enjoy the quite of the country. I also enjoy music. I love to sing and teach children to sing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, but even so...one can only live off the testimony of their parents for so long before it becomes necessary to know for oneself. My testimony did not come in a single event, but rather slowly and quietly over time.....I have come to know for myself, and I thank Heavenly Father everyday for it. I started to go on my own journey when I was in my teens. I began to really study the scriptures for the first time, and really putting effort into the prayers that I offered in private. I started to ask questions that would come to my mind. Some questions were answered immediately and some took a great deal of effort, but I began to recogonize the truth that I had been taught from my childhood...I could slowly claim as my own knowldege. I began putting the Lord's promises to the test. I knew He was a God of truth. I knew when He promised something, He would keep his promise. When I followed His commandments, I began to see the promises that He gave come into my life. Sometimes, the blessings were so abundant....I literally could not number them if I had tried. I have continued to follow that pattern, and as a consequence....I can see God working his miracles in my life and the lives of others. I know He lives. I know He loves me. I know He knows who I am. As time has gone on, my understanding of the Gosple of Jesus Christ and the Restoration of the Gosple through the prophet Joseph Smith has become a solid foundation I have built my daily life upon. I love my Savior, and am grateful everyday for His Mercy upon me. I make mistakes, but I know that through His Atonment I can be forgiven. It makes all the difference in my life. I feel daily joy admist all the hardships that my husband and I have endured. I have come to know that Rain falls in everyone's life, but knowing what I know about the Gosple, and having an understanding of God's Eternal plan for me, has allowed our burden to be light and our hearts to take courage.

How I live my faith

I accepted the responsiblity of serving the children (ages 3-11) in our area each Sunday by teaching them simple Gosple principals and music. I absolutely have found the greatest Joy in my life doing this. I serve as a coucelor to the president over the organization that is responsible for the children. That organization is called the Primary. It has been amazing as I have found that often I am the one being taught by their simple and joyful faith. I enjoy finding creative ways to capture their attention and help them understand principals in the easiest way they can relate too....FUN.
