Hi I'm Matt

I am a mechanical engineer and am married to my best friend, Karali; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name's Matt Hunter, I grew up in a small town in central California with my family of twelve. My dad taught me to work, my mom taught me to love music, and my friends and brothers taught me to play sports. Varsity lettering in four sports, playing trumpet in the marching band, singing in choirs and musicals, and participating in student government kept me busy as a youth. My adult life has led to even more excitement. I served a two-year church mission in Norway and then met my beautiful wife at college in Utah. We moved from Utah to Indiana, and now live in Arizona. My young career in the field of Mechanical Engineering is blossoming while I also pursue my master's degree. I've worked for a large government contractor, a small biomechanics firm, and am now happily self-employed. My wife already has a master's degree and is now working on her doctorate in piano performance as she teaches private lessons on the side. I've been fortunate enough to watch her perform multiple times and in multiple venues, including Carnegie Hall and in Perugia, Italy. We love to watch movies, travel, and play with our two puppies.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. I've been taught the doctrines of this church since I was young and have found out for myself that they are true. The Holy Ghost testifies to me that they are true as I read, hear, or watch them be taught. My faith starts on the fact that the warmth, comfort, and joy of the Spirit of God is felt in my heart each time I read the Book of Mormon and Bible. This faith is developing into a sure knowledge as I apply the teachings to my own life. I often see the blessings my family and I receive from obeying the guidelines set forth in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and know that all who do so will also be blessed. Life is often difficult, but it is more often fun, exciting and full of joy. No matter where I am in the cycle of ups and downs, I know I can rely on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to support me and buoy me up.

How I live my faith

Everything I do is because of my faith. The time I spend building relationships with my family, the activities I participate in, and the manner in which I conduct business are all affected by my faith. Honesty and integrity are not just suggestions and habits my parents tried to instill in me, they are eternal principles dictated by a loving Father in Heaven. Hard work and dedication are not just efficient methods of employment; they are the expectations of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Complete devotion to my family and fidelity in marriage are more than just convenient promises, they are sacred covenants I have made to my family and my God. Specifically, I love to relax and enjoy myself, but I also love to serve others in church, through the assignments I'm asked to fulfill there, and in the community. Currently, I serve in the church by supporting the young full-time missionaries that live in our area. I also volunteer for a non-profit choral organization in my community.
