Hi I'm Katherine

I love life and am grateful to be married to a wonderful husband and be the mother of our four children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah into a strong religious home. I was the middle child of eight children. When I was eleven, my family moved to Philadelphia and then to Kentucky. I graduated from BYU, served a mission to the Australia Melbourne Mission and I now have been married to my best friend for thirty-four years. We have four beautiful children. Because of infertility issues, my husband and I were unable to have children of our own. After eight years of marriage, we worked through LDS Family Services and were able to adopt two of our children, a daughter and a son. We adopted another daughter and our youngest son a couple years later through private adoptions. I have enjoyed being a mother, inspite of the stresses and challenges that come in raising children, especially in today's world. I know that having the gospel in our home was a tremendous help in raising our children. Our two oldest children are happily married and we are thoroughly enjoying being grandparents to our grandson and granddaughter! Our younger daughter is attending BYU and our youngest son is a Marine. I am the type of person who likes to stay busy. I enjoy reading, crocheting, gardening, geology (rocks), cooking and baking, exercising, health, photography and taking care of my grandbabies. I am grateful that I have been able to be an "at-home" Mom. I think it has made a difference in the lives of our children that their mother was home for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Mormon family. My parents taught their children (8) the gospel of Jesus Christ ever since we were small. I read and studied the Book of Mormon on my own when I was fourteen years old and came to know with assurity that the Book of Mormon was truly the Word of God and that the teachings that I had been taught by my parents were true. This testimony helped establish a firm spiritual foundation during my teenage years that helped me know who I am (a Child of God), feel a closeness to my Savior, Jesus Christ and has helped me make good choices throughout my life. I am so grateful to have the gospel in my life!

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the Church throughout my life. When I was 21 years old, I served a mission for the Church in the Australia, Melbourne Mission for 1 1/2 years. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to share with others the truths of the gospel that I had come to know and love. After my mission, I was able to marry my teenage sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple. He also served a mission for the Church in the New Mexico, Arizona Mission. I have served in many different capacities in the Church. I have worked with the children in the Primary as a teacher and as a councelor. I have worked with the women of the Church as a teacher, visiting teacher, compassionate service leader, and as president of the women's organization. I am currently working with the young women and am grateful for this opportunity to be with the youth. My specific calling is to help them work on and complete the Personal Progress Program. As the young women do so, they join with thousands of other young women who are striving to come unto Christ. Personal Progress helps the Youth to strengthen their faith in and testimony of Jesus Christ as they learn His teachings and regularly apply them in their lives.
