Hi I'm Carrie,

and I love that I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am now serving a full-time mission in the Massachusetts, Boston Mission. I've left home, family, school, and friends for the next 18 months of my life, to serve these good people as best I can! I think green is beautiful, especially when you're out in it. Rain smells amazing, especially in Arizona. Playing tag will never get old. Fruit smoothies are delicious. Rock climbing is way fun, and so is singing at the top of your lungs, especially with all the windows rolled down. Life is incredible! Especially when you try and make it that way for other people. And smiling is always a good idea!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, I suffered greatly from dyslexia. Everything was in a language that I didn't understand, and I was failing each of my classes. Even if I understood a homework question (which was rare), my answer would be backwards, and therefore, wrong. No matter what I did, I failed. It was a dark time for me. FInally, in the 4th grade, my parents pulled me out of the public school system; they couldn't take watching their daughter slip through the cracks because of the neglect of my teachers. My mother read with me every single day. When I read a word incorrectly, she would give it a double tap. This was my cue to concentrate, flip the word around in my head, and read it the right way. You can imagine how long it took for me to become fluent... I'm a mormon, because i believe that we have a Heavenly Father, who loves us. My parents loved me enough to rescue me when I was drowning. They gave me the tools I needed, and patiently worked with me until I had mastered them. English is my best subject, and I have a deep love of reading. Our Heavenly Father is just that, our Father. He knew that life would bring trials, and sorrow. However, He loves us enough to give us the tools we need to overcome, and to grow. He has not left us alone to struggle. He patiently guides us, and picks us up when we fall, even when we fall frequently at first. If I had not accepted the help that my parents so generously offered, I would not be able to read, or write. My world would still be dark; I would not have experienced the light, beauty, and understanding that I now enjoy. I'm a mormon because I have accepted Christ as my advocate with the Father. And there is no greater love; no greater strength; no greater beauty; no purer truth in all the world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest to be like Christ. The things He taught were very simple. They were to love God with everything we have. To serve, love, and treat others like we would serve, love, and treat Him. To be honest, hardworking, and selfless. To be kind, and find joy in keeping the commandments. I'm human, and constantly fall short of this goal... However, I show my faith and love for my Savior by continually trying my hardest to reach it, and by relying on Him to help me get a little bit closer every day.
