Hi I'm Marylee

I grew up in Utah. I have loved being a stay-at-home Mom and Grandmother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of five children. I was lucky to be a stay-at-home Mom. I like to exercise. I love to get up in the morning and go jogging or biking. I enjoy traveling. It has been fun to see some great places--Central America, London, Sweden, West Africa, and Asia. I love reading--historical fiction is probably my favorite. I enjoy music. I took piano and singing lessons when I was younger. I taught piano for a number of years. I like baking--although I'm not a gourmet. My husband and I enjoy gardening. It is so great to watch things grow, and there is nothing better to eat than a home grown tomato. I love being a grandmother!!! What a joy to see your children raising children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon, but that is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have studied and received the confirming power of the spirit which testifies that the principles I was taught since my youth are true. I can't imagine my life without the gospel and without the Church. It is the essence of who and what I am. I remember the first time that I remember having a prayer answered. I was in elementary school and had studied hard for a math test. I had been taught that you can ask the Lord for help for anything that concerns you. I had studied hard for the test, but knew that I needed some additional help in remembering what I had studied. I prayed that morning and left for school. I will always remember what it felt like to take that test and feel that the answers were literally writing themselves on the paper. I knew that the Lord had helped me. That was the beginning of my testimony that God hears me and loves me. Since then, I have continued to have simple witnesses of His love and concern for me. I know that there is a Loving Father who has a plan of happiness for each of us.

How I live my faith

I have had many experiences in my life to follow the example given by Jesus Christ in serving others. My favorite experiences have been working with young women ages 12-18. It has been a great experience to help these young women in making good choices that will lead them to a happy and fulfilling life. This is a very challenging time and there are so many things that pull young people away from things that are moral and good. To be able to participate in planning activities that taught eternal values and helped young men and women recognize who they really are has blessed my life. I have also had the privilege in helping adult women recognize that the greatest thing they can be involved with is in teaching and guiding their children to happiness and truth. It has been so fun to participate in activities that involved entire communities. I will never forget working on a cleaning project in Sierra Leone and working side by side with others who wanted to make a difference in the appearance of their community.
