Hi I'm Heather

I grew up in Colorado. I used to teach high school physics before I became a mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a single mother to 2 very active boys. I enjoy taking them to parks, museums, and exploring the outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with friends- playing games, eating, dancing, and hanging out! When I have time, I really enjoy reading, especially novels. I get a thrill out of saving money by shopping sales and using coupons. Update for 2012- I recently got married! He is a wonderful, amazing man! I am so blessed to have a true help-meet by my side. I never knew married life could be such a blessing!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both converts to the LDS Church. When I was 8 years old, missionaries came to my house and told me about the Gospel. I still remember the special feeling I felt when watching a video about Joseph Smith's first vision. My testimony of the Gospel and the values it teaches have been my anchor through many hard times, including teenage worries, an injury during college and a recent divorce. I know without the values the church teaches, I would likely have turned to alcohol or other unhealthy means to cope with the stress of life. I am grateful for faithful friends who have supported me when I needed help. The church is an extension of my family since I live hundreds of miles from any relatives. I know my Savior loves me and has been my greatest source of strength. I have endured experiences that have been hard to go through, but with the Lord's help, I have been greatly blessed. I have been blessed with a forgiving heart so that I don't carry anger and resentment. The Atonement of Jesus Christ has healed me!

How I live my faith

I serve in the Primary which is the Sunday school program for children. I love to spend time with the kids and we have fun activities to help them learn about the Savior. I also teach my own children the Gospel by praying and reading scriptures daily. I'm trying to teach them while they are young so that when they get older, they will make good choices instead of giving into peer pressure. I try to be an example to all around me by using good language, dressing modestly, being a good neighbor, and treating everyone with respect and kindness.
