Hi I'm Bart

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Idaho and currently live in Arizona. I have been a video production professional for 25 years. I was recently married to the woman of my dreams, and am the father of 3 wonderful boys and 3 beautiful step-children. I enjoy watching and playing many sports, and have a particular passion for motorsports.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but have not always been an active member. I first read the Book of Mormon in 9th grade seminary classes, and received a strong confirmation of its truth through the power of the Holy Ghost. I was 14 at the time - the same age as was Joseph Smith when he received his vision of the Father and the Son. I felt a deep connection with that boy and his miraculous witness of the the Father and the Son. I was blessed to receive many other strong confirmations of its truth in my early years. When I was in my late teens I strayed from the church and its teachings, but always felt, deep down, that the church was still true. I made many foolish mistakes and poor choices along the way, and associated myself with people who didn't share my feelings about the gospel. Eventually I was blessed to meet and associate myself with other active members of the church, and those feelings and witnesses that had been put away began to re-emerge. I was able to regain the strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and through repentance and forgiveness, felt the power of His atonement in my life. I know that God lives, as does his son, Jesus Christ. I know, without a doubt, that Jesus is our redeemer and the Savior of all mankind. I know that Joseph Smith saw and spoke with them, and that he was a prophet of God, and translated the Book of Mormon. That book is true, as I've felt the Holy Ghost witness that truth to me on many occasions. I can't deny these things I know, though sometimes it seems a burden to try and live the high standards the Lord expects. I can't deny them because of the powerful witnesses I've received from the Holy Ghost. That knowledge brings me such incredible peace and joy, and though it sometimes seems the Lords asks too much, he always provided the help I need to follow him.

How I live my faith

First and foremost I'm human, and suffer normal human temptations and weakness on a daily basis. I tend, like all people, to get caught up in the daily grind of the world, and can forget who and what I am, and what the Lord expects of me. But I'm so grateful that at any time of day I can appeal to the Lord for strength and help, and that even when I make foolish mistakes He still loves me, and I can repent and be forgiven through the Atonement of our Savior. I struggle with sin the same as any other mortal, but I am striving to keep His commandments and improve daily, so that one day I might return and live with my loving Father in heaven in his eternal kingdom. I'm not perfect, and I never will be in this life. I recently underwent a divorce from my wife of 18 years. It was, and is, a devastating event in my life. I regret the mistakes I made which led to the dissolution of an eternal family. But it is only through the Love and atonement of our Lord that I have begun to feel the healing in my life. I am able to feel hope through his blessings, and feel the love and support of my beautiful children. I am grateful for His love, and thankful that I have Him to help me through this sad time in my life. I have been fortunate to work with the youth at church. I have been associated with the primary (3-11 years old) for almost 15 years, and it is a joy to teach, and learn from, the small children. They exhibit the pure love of Christ, and have faith and trust in the Lord, which is a great learning experience for both of us.
