Hi I'm Irene

I'm a 1st generation aussie living in the country. I am a full-time mum of 5 kids. I am family orientated and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Both of my parents were born overseas so my brothers and sisters are all 1st genetation aussie. I was born in Victoria, Australia and moved to Queensland in my teens and am still living there today. I am blessed to be married to my best friend for 15 years and we have 5 children. My husband and I come from large families and we are very family orientated. I love having family parties and fun filled days where our children get to play together and form strong bonds. I love reading, listening to great music, going camping and organising family outings.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both converts to the church and I was raised and taught the gospel while growing up in the church. I love to learn and while going through the church programs - Primary and Youth, I gained alot of knowledge and understanding about my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I grew to know who He was and why I should learn to become like Him. It was while I was doing the Seminary Program (a Youth Scriptural Program where you study each book of Scripture each year for 4 years- The Book of Mormon, The Old Testament, The New Testament and the Doctine and Covenants) that I knew for myself that this was indeed Jesus Christ's True Church on the Earth today. The Holy Ghost helped me feel in my heart the Saviour's love for me. I have never looked back but continued to learn and develop a deep love for both my Saviour and my Father in Heaven. I have had a few tragedies in my life where loved ones have passed away but through the gospel knowledge that I have I know without any doubts that I will see them again in the spirit world. This knowlegde came from learning about The Plan of Happiness that our Heavenly Father has for us. I love my Heavenly Father and Saviour, Jesus Christ so much and want to keep learning about them and how I can help them in this life.

How I live my faith

I am the Primary president in my branch(parish) and I am responsible for the children (ages 18 months - 11 yrs) within the church in my area. I help organise the teachers to know what they need to teach and how to teach the children from the church's curriculum each year. By being around the children it helps me focus on what their needs are and see them through the eyes of our Saviour. Each child is special and unique. they are highly favoured by our Saviour, Jesus Christ. I learn everyday that our children have such a love for their Heavenly Father, they often teach me more than what i can teach them. Being a full-time mother keeps me learning on how I can help my family develop qualities that will help them be good people in the community and how they can look at others rather themselves. We, as a family try to have family nights and read the scritpures together as often as possible so that we can learn the importance of being a family member and how we can be helpful to those around us. I go to church every Sunday so that I can fulfill my callings and gain a greater love of my fellow man. I love going to church and learning more. I am so happy to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I know it is Christ's Gospel on the earth today.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Irene
Any strong family relationship is based on mutual trust and trustworthiness. A successful marriage requires having faith in each other and in God. Faith in God means to trust Him or have confidence in Him that he loves us and wants the best for us. We need to trust God that He will help us when we need his help. He doesn't want to see us unhappy. The Plan of Happiness means just that...for us to gain Happiness in our lives. Having faith in Jesus Christ will bring us together as husband and wife or friend because we have a commitment to a common value - staying together and being happy. It helps us gain strength to overcome hardships as they come along. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Irene
I love being a mormon! When you surround yourself with people who have the same values and beliefs it is a great comfort and blessing. Mormon's are very family orientated people and enjoy spending time with their family. My father always made time for our family and we had family activity nights and read scriptures together. My husband does the same for our own children. I value family togetherness highly and receive great happiness for these values in my life. Learning about prayer also is a strength. When I know I can speak to my father in heaven through prayer it helps me constantly throughout my life. Show more Show less
