Hi I'm Alisa

I'm a wife and a mother of five young children, living on Oahu. I'm a blogger, a musician, and a book worm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and as a child loved reading, playing the piano, and talking on the phone. After earning and Associate's degree in music I transferred to BYU in Provo, UT, completing my BS in Family Science in 2002. My husband and I met back in California where he was working full-time for Qualcomm as a computer engineer, going to school full-time, and serving as the Executive Secretary at church. We were married eight years ago and he's kept up that same busy schedule. It has been my joy to support him through several moves and job changes, including a recent change of career and a move overseas to Hawaii! We've had many adventures in these short eight years, including being blessed with five beautiful children. My days are spent taking care of my family and our home. It gets a little crazy at times with kids ages 7, 5, 3, 2, and 4 months - but I try to love every minute while they're young and adorable. Most of the time, I'm happy to say, I really do. Aside from being a mother, I also enjoy blogging and staying connected with family & friends through facebook. I even manage to settle down into a good book now and then, and it warms my heart to see our eldest child turning into a "bookworm," too! In my spare time I teach piano & sing in a local women's choir.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed with parents and grandparent who encouraged me to study the Book of Mormon from a very young age, and in doing so I received a testimony of this Church and a relationship with God that proved to be a strong foundation throughout my growing up. As an adult I have never doubted it. There is a strong current of peace and light that gives me strength and deepens my testimony of the Gospel and our Savior's love for us. Simply put, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is indeed the one and only church on the earth today led by prophets and apostles. I have seen miracles in my life and in the lives of my family, but the source of my testimony comes from the Spirit of God speaking to my soul that this is His church. It is true, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe that motherhood is a high and holy calling in and of itself, and that teaching our children to love the Lord is one of the most important ways I can live my faith. My husband and I were just called to lead (and accompany) the music for children at church, and so far we love it! It's great having the opportunity to teach songs that will stay with these kids their whole lives, and to try to help them feel the Spirit as we communicate -through the amazing medium of music- our love for them and for the Lord.
