Hi I'm Lorin

I have been married for over 40 years to Lina, have 7 incredible children, 14 beautiful grandchildren, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed to have had a full and wonderful life. I was raised in a home with loving and nurturing parents and wonderful siblings. I had tremendous friends while growing up and we reinforced for each other the values established by the church and our parents. I was able to avoid many of the temptations and pitfalls of life because of the teachings of this great church and the guidance of my parents. I had the opportunity to obtain a college education at Brigham Young University, including an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a masters degree in Public Administration. I have become an ardent fan of anything BYU and especially their sports programs. I definitely bleed BLUE! I have had a very successful career in real estate where twice I was among the top of all realtors in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. It has provided a great living for my family. It has also given me the flexibility in schedule to be more with my family and to support them in their various activities. I have found that what brings me the most joy and satisfaction in life is anything that has to do with my family. A highlight of our year is our annual week at Kohl's Ranch in the cool pines near Payson, Arizona with its myriad of fun activities. We get together as often as possible at other times during the year and enjoy a wide variety of activities, including eating, most sports, fishing, playing games, and just hanging out together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is the path which will lead me back to be with our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son Jesus Christ. I am most grateful for the knowledge that I have of Jesus Christ and his restored gospel. I have accepted Him as my personal Savior. As a manifestation of my belief in Him I have been baptized by immersion by one having authority. I have had hands laid upon my head and given the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I am now striving to be faithful to those covenants and promises I have made to be a follower of Him. Because of the atonement and resurrection of Christ I have the hope of eternal life in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

My education was interrupted by a call from the church to serve as a missionary in the Texas South Mission with headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. I have such a wonderful Mission President in Elder Dean L. Larsen who made such a powerful impact in my life. What an incredible blessing my mission was to lay the foundation for my future. It taught me such things as dedication, true service to others, how to sacrifice and put the needs of others above my own, how to truly love those with whom you serve and how to get along with others in spite of differences. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my mission was to experience the true joy that comes from seeing first hand the changes that occur into the lives of those who accept the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I love belonging to a church that has taught me the importance of serving and helping other people. That is what the life of Jesus Christ was all about and in my imperfect way I try to be like him. I have been able to work for over 25 years with the youth of the church and love their enthusiasm, faithfulness, and focus on striving to live righteous lives. Their drive and vitality has helped keep me energized and a to enjoy a more fulfilled life. The church has given me so many opportunities to serve and bless others while being blessed myself. I truly love being a member of this great church.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important event in the history of the world. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross the Savior atoned for our sins. After three days in the garden tomb he was resurrected and lives again. Because of Christ we too can be forgiven of our sins and live again. We will also be reunited with our loved ones who have died. This is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. To make His Atonement fully effective in our individual lives must accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. We must also repent of our sins, be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and continue faithfully keeping God’s commandments. As we do follow this pattern, because of the Atonement we can return to live with Christ and our Heavenly Father forever. Show more Show less
