Hi I'm Jonathan Stradling

I'm a college football fanatic. I love ice cream. I have type 1 diabetes. I love every day of life with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a family man. I like spending time just being at home with my family, doing the things we enjoy such as playing games, watching sports, and eating delicious food!. My beautiful wife and I have 2 fun-filled boys ages 3 and 1 that make us so happy. Gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. It's so fun to plant something and see it grow. Some other things I enjoy are playing basketball, listening to audiobooks, doing projects around the house, reading, and watching college football!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family, but I had to become converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ for myself, just like anyone else. When I was 16, I considered my membership in the Church and prayed to know if the Church was truly what it claimed to be: Jesus' Church restored back on the earth. I wanted to know. My prayers were answered in a simple and quiet way. I just reflected on my life, and the Spirit of God confirmed to me, that the things I had been taught about in Christ's church were true. I looked back and saw how much joy I had experienced in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt the Holy Ghost tell me that I already knew the Church was true and I could see the blessings in my life. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know my life is happier because of it and I know it is true. I am so grateful for Christ, and for His teachings, including eternal families. The Church blesses families. I want to be with my family forever, and through Christ and His Church and His teachings, I know I will be as long as I am faithful!

How I live my faith

My faith affects my daily decisions. Recently, I had a week full of Church activities. I am the Ward Mission Leader in my ward right now, so I spend a lot of time with the missionaries, teaching people who want to learn more about Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His Church on the earth. Sundays are often busy with going to Church and making home teaching visits to families in the ward to see how they are doing. Mondays are family home evening where we spend the night as a family together talking, learning, and having fun. Tuesdays I usually go out with the missionaries and visit people learning about the Church. Wednesday and Thursdays right now I am playing Church softball or basketball with people from the neighborhood at the church building. Some Fridays or Saturdays are ward parties or community service projects or going to the Temple. Different callings (which are all voluntary unpaid positions) sometimes change the schedule, but underneath all of the activities, the thing that really matters is that all my actions are based on my convictions. I invest time doing activities, because I believe I am doing what God wants me to do. To make life better for my family, friends, neighbors, and community. I love how much the Church of Jesus Christ helps me be involved with my neighbors and community. I get to teach others on a regular basis that Jesus Christ is the Savior, and that he loves all people, and that he wants us to follow his commandments so we can be happy. The Gospel brings peace in this life and eternal joy in the life to come. What could be better than that?
