Hi I'm Nathan

I am U.S. born and bred. I was born up here in Anchorage, Alaska I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to watch and play Basketball.(my favorite teams are BYU and The Utah Jazz) However, I never played on any sports teams. (in school or elsewhere) It's just a leisurely thing. I also enjoyed watching football. Particularly the 49ers when Steve Young played. (and yes my college team is BYU) Yes, I knew he was Mormon too. I sort of am a fairweather fan of the 49ers now. (although they are an excellent team nowadays)I also like to play computer games such as Breakout and Pinball games. I am employed by Safeway and work 32 hours a week stocking shelves. I also am currently taking online classes at BYU-Idaho. I am still single at 38.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and I expect to die in the church. I have felt Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's love in my life through my own personal revelations. The best revelation I have received is when I was in my personal apostasy. This apostasy lasted nearly 2 decades so I consider myself to be a reconvert. I had a dream in the spring of 2011 that the Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley came to visit me. (remember that at this time he is dead) I was in a dark place (like spirit prison) and I remember being ashamed to be in his presence. He gave me a hug as if I was his brother. He then proceeded to teach me many things that I can not remember at this time. However, the thing that I remember most was he told me to "Keep My Spirit Strong". 6-7 months later, I would completely give up the sin that kept me from being a Melchizedek Priesthood holder. A little later I was able to go to the temple. Just before becoming a Melchizedek Priesthood Holder on my 37th birthday, (December 18, 2011)I got very sick and I almost died. (The doctor told my parents I did not think he was going to make it) Just before I went into a 20 hour coma, my dad gave me a Priesthood blessing. I remembered waking up in the hospital and not being scared at all. I knew that the angels were comforting me. I woke up at around 11:00 on Sunday morning. It was time for church. I credit that day (December 4, 2011)of waking up to my 2nd life. Heavenly Father would not bring me home because my work on this earth was not done. I have now dedicated this "2nd life" to follow the Savior's teachings.

How I live my faith

I am now a part of a new ward. I am an instructor for my class of like-minded men. (although I haven't done it yet, I teach the class every 2nd Sunday of the month. I also am a home teacher. Every once and a while, I will give a Book Of Mormon out. What I try to do is tell at least one new person (they could be someone I know or even a stranger that I may be talking to and the prompting goes up)each week that I am of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sometimes I have to tell them that I am a Mormon as unfortunately most people know us as Mormons and nothing to do with being "Christians".

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Nathan
No. Jesus Christ taught that we should "love one another". (John 13:34 - KJV) We are all sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father and we should help ALL our brothers and sisters. (non-members and members alike) I love performing service (or doing random acts of kindness) to all my brothers and sisters. (everyone on this planet) Show more Show less
