Hi I'm David

I am a husband, a father of 7 and a grandfather of 10 with 1 on the way. I am a teacher, a business owner. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, Jaime, and I have been married for a wonderful 32 years. I work hard as a teacher and as a business owner. We like to play hard too with our family. When it is time to work the focus is education and technology. When it is time to play we focus on people and traveling, reading and learning new and interesting things, and water sports of all kinds like SCUBA. My favorite hobbies are doing things with my children and grandchildren. I like classic and action movies, good books, science, technology, and scouting. My current project is developing an online school to increase access to education worldwide.

Why I am a Mormon

Born of great Mormon parents I grew up in this faith. As a teenager one of my very good friends developed brain cancer. In the months as he was dying, after school and sports, I would pick up a box of popsicles we both loved, and go to his home. There we would talk about everything teenagers discuss including death, the purpose of life and God. It became clear to me that although I believed my parents faith, I needed to know for myself about God, who He is and what His plan and purposes are for mankind and for me. A scripture in the Book of Mormon contains an invitation by an ancient American prophet named Moroni, to read, ponder, and pray to know the truth about The Book of Mormon which claims to be, another witness of Jesus Christ, as prophesied in the Bible. I took that invitation and read, pondered, studied, and prayed about whether or not the Book of Mormon is true. I received an answer from the Spirit of God to my questioning prayer. I now know for myself directly from God Himself that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are His holy word. I know that Jesus is the Christ, my personal Savior and Redeemer. I know that God calls men to His holy work in these the latter-days. Moroni's invitation is open to all who are willing to learn for themselves. Immediately after that invitation, the same ancient prophet, Moroni, makes the claim that "by the Spirit of God we may know the truth of all things." (see Moroni 10:5) I have tested and used this same process as I face the decisions and challenges in life. By doing so God leads me as He mercifully answers my prayers for His constant help and guidance. His blessings to my family and I are great.

How I live my faith

I consider that my most important role, responsibility, and relationship that of being a husband, and best friend to my wife, Jaime. Our roles of parent and grandparent are our next most important. Our family roles are our most important in living our faith and keeping covenants we have made with God. Service opportunities, such as helping others, Scouting and teaching are both fun and and an important part of our faith. It brings great harmony and purpose to my life knowing that every person is a child of God and thus my brother or sister. That knowledge also creates a strong desire to serve when and where I am able because it is a privilege to assist my Heavenly Father's children.
