Hi I'm Taylor!

I am a student and I love being active. And, yes, I am a Mormon!

About Me

Even though I was born in Texas and live there now I grew up in southern California. Some of my favorite things to do are be outdoors, play sports, and read. I love trying new things and going new places. I've been to La Reunion, Madagascar, Alaska, and all over the states. I speak French and Malagasy and I want to learn other languages. Right now I am going to college because I love learning and pushing myself mentally. I used to be going for a major in Biotechnology but I'm not so sure that's exactly what I want. But I know that whatever I choose it will have to be challenging. I also like to hang out with friends, whether it’s at a party or just with a few close friends. I love pick-up soccer, volley ball, racquetball, and lacrosse if the chance comes up. I've definitely had my ups and downs in life but I try to always be optimistic. I love life and believe that to be happy, you have to choose to be happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be. I find meaning and purpose in the gospel of Jesus Christ and I know he is the redeemer of this world. I see how the teachings of modern prophets uplift and change people's lives, mine included. I have felt the power of the atonement in my life and stand as a witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ as the Son of God the Eternal Father. It was not easy to learn these things and it didn't all happen in a day. I chose to be Mormon after hours of prayer, hard trials, and lots of thought. I live the principles and teachings of this church because of the promises that can be obtained by doing so. I see the blessings in my life as I live accordingly. I'm a Mormon because I love the culture. Maybe we aren't all perfect, maybe the churches we attend aren't perfect, maybe we offend and make mistakes; But, we are all trying to be better. We are all giving it our best go so that we can be like Christ. I love being surrounded by people who come from all over, who are trying to be better people. I enjoy being around people who have morals, integrity, and honesty. It isn't always the easiest way, but it is the most rewarding.

How I live my faith

Right now I just moved into a new ward, a group of singles that attend colleges, and work in the Austin area. I've been asked to work with guys my age to motivate and encourage them to live more fully the gospel of Christ. I visit people one on one, I teach people on Sundays at church, and I meet with other leaders to discuss how to help others develop faith in Christ and come closer to him. I also love participating at the local institute where we have activities, a lot of times more for fun. On Mondays we get together and meet as a kind of "family" to share experiences and play a few games. I sing in a choir (even though I'm not that good...haha) because I love to develop my talents. On a daily basis I love studying the scriptures and strengthening my relationship with God. I try to be kind to others and live my life after the example of Jesus Christ. I don't always succeed but I know that when I try I feel good. I pray often and know that God can answer us in ways we often don't notice.
