Hi I'm Sharon

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I do genealogy and I am an Indian. I joined the Church in college. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mother of five grown children, a grandmother of soon to be 11 grandchildren. I love to read, especially books about the history of my ancestors. And I love science. I have a degree in Physics. Gardening is a hobby and a necessity, because my husband and I have special diets. I enjoy making useful items of yarn and cloth. Gospel study is a big part of my life. I study my scriptures daily including the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church in graduate school. I was on my own - truly a starving student and seeking a better future. I was invited to a dance and then a Thanksgiving dinner activity. Impressed by the way the student families interacted with their children and the way married and single students worked together like a big family, I decided to attend a Sunday service on my own. The missionaries arranged to teach me with a series of discussions about the Gospel. I was amazed by how much sense it made to me. When I was asked to pray about the truth of the Book of Mormon and the prophet status of Joseph Smith I immediately agreed. For I had read in Alma32:28-30 a description of how to obtain this truth by speaking to the Lord directly. As an experiment, I did quietly kneel down in my dorm room and prayed for the knowledge that these things were true. I waited and listened for a space of time. Then a quiet conviction flooded my body with the warm knowledge that I sought. I remember sitting back on the floor in amazement, weeping. I have never turned away from that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I married, in the Temple, the fellow student who had invited me to the dance and dinner. We have raised five children, all of whom are married in the Temple. My sons have served missions for our Church. I have served in many capacities in my local Church and I am now a worker in my local Temple. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God to my people, the native people of the American Continent and to all the people of the world. I know Joseph Smith is the prophet chosen by Heavenly Father to open the restoration of the gospel to this our time. You can know this too.
