Hi I'm Katie

I am a twin sister, college student, sports fan, reader, future teacher and music lover. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Church. My mom was Greek Orthodox but converted in her youth; my dad was a member his whole life. I am Mediterranean, half Greek and Italian and am proud of that! I love playing basketball and volleyball, and love swimming. I love sports and competitive activities in general. I am a full time college student studying to become an Elementary teacher, and work part time at a software company. I love working hard, I love accomplishing my goals, and I love learning! I have a very full busy crazy life and love it! My twin sister is my best friend, and my brothers make me smile every day. My amazing wise parents are always willing to give me advice when I want it, and are especially willing to give it when I don't want it. :) I am excited for the future and am grateful for all the experiences that have taught me and led me to where I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. It is pretty much as simple as that. Yes I grew up in the Church, but the more time I spend in college or around different kinds of people, the more I cling to the truth the Gospel has and the more my testimony is strengthened that God has a plan for me, loves me, wants me to be my best self and wants me to be 1000% happy. I know that I will be happy as long as I am doing what my Heavenly Father wants me to do. As I study the Atonement more and come to understand who my Savior is, I am overwhelmed by the thought that Christ suffered for MY sins and the sins of the whole world. I can overcome anything with His help and couldn't do it without Him! It is such a relief to know that I don't have to be perfect in the eyes of the world, I don't have to be "important" or "beautiful" in everyone else's eyes; I know that I am beautiful and important in His eyes. He loves me. He taught me before I came to this earth and desires that I live with Him again and has outlined the path back to Him. The peace that comes from living righteously is unlike any other peace. If you haven't felt it, you need to. And you can! I believe that the gospel is for everyone and everyone needs to feel what I feel! I believe that children are precious to the Lord, and that families can live together forever. To me, the gospel just makes sense. But even though I don't know or understand everything, I have faith that this is true and real and is absolutely essential to our eternal salvation. I want every one I love to live with me and their Heavenly Father forever. This gospel is so important, so special, and so undeniably true. The Book of Mormon is true; it was translated by Joseph Smith through the power of the Holy Ghost, and is completely true. If it is read with a pure desire to know the truth, the truth will be made known, always.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday for three hours! I take the Sacrament, listen to talks, attend lessons, get spiritually fed, and socialize will amazing young single adults in my area. I go to activities during the week as well; there are always fun activities to go to, and not all of them are exactly church related; we don't always just sit and read the scriptures! There are dances, sports, games, and creative fun activities going on all the time. You can always find nice friendly people here :) I love it!
