Hi I'm Lanny

I grew up in Utah and Idaho. I'm happily married and a father of eight. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Ogden, Utah and raised on a farm near Twin Falls, Idaho. My main hobby is fishing, but I enjoy many sports, including basketball, volleyball and football (especially when I play them with my children or grandchildren). I have been very happily married for 36 years and have 8 children and 6 grandchildren. My family is the most important thing (and greatest blessing) in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I have received many witnesses through the Holy Spirit that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. Even though I have been associated with the Church my entire life (baptized when I was eight), I still had to come to know for myself that the Church is true. I have received the witnesses of the Spirit as a result of earnest prayer and trying my best to live the teachings of the Church. As a result of divine truths that have been restored, I understand who and what I am, as well as the purpose of this life. I am better able to understand my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that Heavenly Father loves each one of His children and that He has created a “plan of happiness” that enables His children to receive complete joy and happiness. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is an essential part of that plan. All of this enables me to have peace, even in trying times and situations.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to practice the precepts of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I pray daily for the ability, courage and insight to do this. I served a two-year proselytizing mission in Brazil as a young man, and have enjoyed serving in many teaching, leadership and support capacities in the Church. I also strive to turn my focus outward to others more – to be aware of their situations and to help, encourage and comfort them whenever I can. I try to be a good steward over the many blessings the Lord has given me (good health, strength, prosperity, time, etc.), trying to use them for the benefit of others as well as for myself and family. I look for opportunities to tell my friends and neighbors about the Church so they can know the same joy and happiness that my family and I know.
