Hi I'm Jimmy

I live in New York City and work in publishing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently live in NYC where I work in the book publishing industry. As anyone might guess, I love to read and that love led me to a career in which I am always surrounded and working with books. I also enjoy skateboarding, hiking, four-wheeling, camping, and playing video games.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, an obvious answer some people might think of when they see I grew up in Utah is that I was born a member of the LDS church. That is true, but it isn't why I'm a Mormon. My family and I lost two of my cousins to cancer. I was angry, and spent seven years away from religion because of that anger. I was upset that Heavenly Father took my cousins. But toward the end of that seven year period I began to see that I wasn't living my life correctly, and if I wanted to see my cousins again after I die then I needed to get my act together. I explored some non-Christian religions at that time, but found myself coming back to the LDS church because of the promise of eternal families that is a unique tenant of LDS doctrine.

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly and renew my commitments to Heavenly Father. I read scriptures daily and attend LDS Institute classes to deepen my knowledge of scriptural doctrine. I enjoy having opportunities to serve in my community.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not. Joseph Smith was a human being just like you and me. We worship God the Father, and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God similarly to Moses, or Isaiah. Show more Show less
