Hi I'm Nyla. I'm a Mormon.

I grew up in New Mexico in a small farming community. I've been married for 43 years and we have 6 children.

About Me

I love to bake bread and rolls and share them with others. When I have time I enjoy quilting and making crafts. I make quilts and pillowcases for all of my grandchildren. I really try hard to stay connected with my five daughters and one son. We don't live in the same town but we talk on the phone all the time. We alternate summers between a full family reunion and a "Grand Get-Together" with our oldest grandchildren. What a great time we have together. The miles don't keep us apart. We spend time together when we can. My family is more important to me than anything else.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon and when I was younger I came to know for myself that the Savior is real. I know that He still talks to prophets today. He visited a young boy named Joseph Smith and revealed the Gospel to him. I know Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, a record of the Savior's visit to people in the New World. I read the Book of Mormon while going to college and through reading, study and prayer I knew in my heart that it is true. I continue to see the Lord's hand in my life and I am strengthened by His love. I know that He atoned for my sins and that I am blessed each day through His life.

How I live my faith

My husband and I visit several Church families. We work to strengthen them in the Gospel and we hope through our actions they feel the Savior's love. My particular assignment in the Church at this time is to serve the young children from ages three to eleven. I help them learn about the Savior each Sunday. My husband coaches volleyball at the local high school and I travel with him to all away games on the bus. I film both home and away games for him. We love to be around the girls. From time to time I am involved at the local Senior Center helping with fund raisers and other activities.
