Hi I'm Joe T

I'm a Mormon. I grew up about 25 miles west of Cleveland. In August of '79, at age 24, I moved to Phoenix.

About Me

I am an engineer. I repair electronic circuit boards and write software. I am attending college working on a degree in chemistry. My wife and I love to travel and camp. My hobbies are playing guitar and working with my metal lathe.

Why I am a Mormon

I needed to know why God put me on earth, so in a prayer, I asked the Lord "Why am I here?". I was willing to surrender myself to him and to do what ever He wanted. After I finished praying, I had a very peaceful feeling that I would get an answer in a couple of weeks. Two weeks later, while I was walking my dog, I was prompted to take a different route. A short while later, there were two young women walking toward us. I walked my dog to the other side of the street to give them the right of way. To my surprise they crossed the street and we were again on a collision course. They were missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of them told me that she had a prompting to walk up to me. She asked me if I believed in God and if I prayed to Him. She asked if they could make an appointment to visit me. As they taught me, the Holy Ghost confirmed to me that this was God's answer to my prayer. I was baptized three weeks later. Six months later, I met Kathy, the girl of my dreams, at a church singles' conference. A year and a half later we were married. I know that this is God's church. It is the one that He led me to in answer to a prayer. It is the one led by Jesus Christ Himself, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

At work, I try hard to be of service to my customers, because, when you serve your fellow beings, you serve the Lord. At church, I am a secretary. My job is to take a load off of my priesthood leaders' shoulders. I visit people in our ward and keep the database up to date with who gets visited each month. I enjoy visiting members with my wife and leaders of our ward. I just finished reading "The Book of Mormon" for the third time. During that time I read for 30 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days and I got more out of it than ever before. It contains the true gospel! Before that, I read the Bible from cover to cover. It also contains the gospel of Jesus Christ.
