Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon. I am an engineer in wireless communications and I also love music especially playing the guitar.

About Me

I am married and have two daughters and two sons. I work from home in wireless communications. I love to play guitar and having been in different Rock and Roll/Country bands since I was 15. Needless to say I love to play and have been doing it a long time. Music is defiantly a force in my life. I love all kinds of music not just rock, county or pop. I love to go up to the mountains during the summer when it gets hot in the valley. My father was born and raised in Arizona so I moved to Arizona to get close to the old homestead. I love living here in the Valley of the Sun.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to Mormon parents so it was kind of by default however I have gained my own testimony of the Gospel so I would say I am a Mormon because of the values I have learned throughout my life and because of all the examples I have had over the years. Some of the best examples were my scout leaders and young men leaders when I was young. One of them was K.D. Williams and I never heard him say an unkind thing about anybody or to anybody to me he was the best example of what it means to be a Mormon. Of course my parents had the most influence over me growing up and it was their examples that showed me the way to finding my own testimony and getting my own confirmation of the Gospel. The last 4 months I have learned to trust not to my own understand but to acknowledge the the Lord in everything. My son was involved in an incident the left him ICU at the hospital for 45 days. When he arrived at the hospital his brain had been without blood for over 40 minutes, he lost two thirds of his blood and was declared brain dead by three different doctors. I testify to you that the power of the Priesthood is real. I also testify to you that our Heavenly Father is aware of each and everyone of us. He knows our desires and the troubles that we all face. He is there for us if we will but ask him in faith and with hope in our hearts and a belief in his goodness, he will manifest his miracles and love for us. Our son is now back home with us, he has a long way to go but his brain function is back along with his memory. He has quite a story to tell which I will not go into but I just want you all to know that your Heavenly Father is aware of you. When things seem that they are at there worst and there is no hope just get on your knees and pray to him and he will listen and through your faith miracles can and will happen and you will feel his presence in your life. It happened to me and my family and it can happen to you if you will just ask him. He loves you and will never stop.

How I live my faith

I try to treat everybody the way I would like to be treated. It is not easy to do this but if we would all make this a priority then I think the world would be a better place to live. If we don't love our neighbors like ourselves then how can we expect to have other people be interested in us or our well being. I try to be honest in all my dealings and to tell the truth always. Don't get me wrong I am far from perfect but I will always try to better my shortcomings as much as possible. Sometimes it feels like one step forward and two steps backwards but you have to keep trying to do the best you can. I think we were put here on this Earth to see how we would treat each other and if we would take care of those in need. I believe it has a lot to do with how we will be judged for our time spent here and if we truly care for each other.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

In verse 10 of Malachi the Lord states "prove me now here with", which means give an honest 10% of your income and see if the blessings received are really there. I can testify to you that they will be there. Our Heavenly Father is asking us to prove it to ourselves and if we have the faith to do so we will receive many blessings for our efforts.
