Hi I'm James W. Broughton

I am a convert to the church. I find great joy in serving others. I am so grateful that I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing Flute and percussion. I am a WW2 history buff and love avaition and airplanes. I serve as a Valley Big Brother which is a mentor to boys without fathers. I love nature and the outdoors, hiking, camping etc... I spent many years in scouting and currently work as a purchasing agent in the lawn and garden business.

Why I am a Mormon

One night during a rough time in my life I was sitting home alone wondering what direction to go with my life now. A knock came on the door. It was two missionaries. They asked how I was doing and I told them “not so great.” They inquired if there was anything they could do to help. I said. “You could cut my yard for me.” They did not hesitate to say “we would be glad to. Just tell us where and when and we will be here.” I realized that they meant it. I was very moved by their sincerity. Over the next few weeks the missionaries stopped by about twice a week and they would come in and we would talk and they left a book of Mormon. I had decided to get a roommate and had put an ad in the paper. Before they could accept the room they said they had to pray about it and asked me if I had any aversion to Mormons. I said no. Later they called and said they would take the room. My interest grew as I watched them going to church and living a righteous life. I started asking them about their beliefs. One day they invited me to church. So I did. It was very interesting and everyone was so warm and friendly. Tha Sister missionarys taught me the lessons. On conference weekend, I went and heard all the talks and saw Legacy. After that weekend I prayed and felt at peace about my decision to be baptized. It was a day I will always remember. My life was changed forever that day. I was overflowing with peace and joy and all the members of the ward were so supportive and made me feel so loved. It was like being reborn into a new family. The family of God. My baptism was 17 years ago and I say to whomever reads this that following the gospel of Jesus Christ in the true church is what life is all about. I am thankful for all the wonderful people that God the Father used as his instruments to bring me back to his flock. As the bible says BY THEIR WORKS YOU SHALL KNOW THEM. Now 17 years after the first seed was planted I do.

How I live my faith

I serve with scouting program and mentor youth in the Valley Big Brothers program. I like taking "little Brothers" on lots of the service projects the church has to help with. We help people move, do yardwork for the elderly, vollenteer at the church cannery and farms. I also love home teaching my single sisters each month and helping them whenever possable. I work hard to be kind, caring andf honest with all my fellow men and women that I come into contact each day. I am faithful and devoteted husband and the gospel and this great church give my life meaning.
