Hi I'm James

I grew up in Somerset England. I am an Engineering Test Technician.

About Me

I am a Husband and Dad. I work full time shift work. In my house I am the painter, decorator, car mechanic, book keeper, teacher and part time cook too name a few. All with the support of my wife and children. Gymnastics, Weight Training, Cycling, Walking, Swimming, cake making, cooking, art, Technic Lego, Star Wars, Dr Who and exploring the countryside are things that we or a family member is involved with and enjoys at various levels.

Why I am a Mormon

I drew my own conclusion that the Book of Mormon is a true record of the ministry and teachings of Jesus Christ. I also believe the Bible to be true as far as it is translated correctly; the thing is many churches believe the Bible to be true so there are many directions to go in. However if you find the Book of Mormon to be true that is a more specific direction as that means the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true also. It is important to me that I found my own conclusion as so many people, authorities, scientists, journalists, scholars, have so many differing opinions and they don't even stick with them. So what is the source of truth? How can I know? If there was a God and we are his children as I believe, it would make sense for him to give us a way to find the truth. His way is simpler than many think, his way is to ask him directly, we normally refer to this communication as prayer, however it is not a pre written prayer to be repeated many times. This way of asking is your own personal prayer, if you've never said your own prayer before here's some steps to doing so - 1) Address God or Heavenly Father , ie "Dear Heavenly Father" 2) Say what your thankful for ie " I Thank Thee for this opportunity..." 3) Ask 4) End "..in the name of Jesus Christ Amen" and then wait patiently for your answer. I believe the honest seeker of truth will find an honest answer. Through personal prayer was how I got a confirmation that the Book Of Mormon is true. It is difficult to describe that strong confirmation, but I knew it was from God. In time other answers will come that will be a great blessing in life and they help me stick with it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the Books of the New and Old Testament along with the Book of Mormon. I try to put these accounts into historical context so they make more sense to me. I also look for specific subjects and answers, such as life after death, eternal families, the nature of God, the resurrection of Jesus, the resurrection of all dead, the gift of the Holy Ghost, life before birth are all to name a few. I live my faith by striving to follow the pattern shown to us by the Saviour. He taught us to love one another and not to judge each other. He also taught us to pray regularly for what we need and to give thanks. I live my faith by being the best Husband, Father, Son and Brother I can be. I live my faith by trying my best at work and maintaining my professional development. I live my faith by keeping physically fit and abstaining from Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Tea and Coffee. I live my faith by spending time with my family and having fun with them. I live my faith by donating a small amount to those in need through the churches donation own system.
