Hi I'm Rebecca

I love homemade raspberry freezer jam on hot fried scones. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Utah, Texas, Illinios, Maryland, and Colorado.  I love the people I have met and the experiences I had in each of these places. I am married. My husband and I have six children-five sons and one daughter. My oldest son and my daughter are newly married. I ran my first marathon on my 46th birthday. I have ridden two centurys on my bicycle and one with my husband on the back of our tandem. I also love to hike. I love to bake, especially during the fall season. Everytime I bake bread, I give a loaf away. I go to school part time, trying to finish a degree I started 29 years ago. I just started taking piano lessons in hopes of being able to play the hymns of Zion. I am also trying to learn the Spanish language. Even though there are differences in our beliefs, I enjoy studing God's word with my friends of other faiths and, am a BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) graduate.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young girl attending church, I learned a song with the words: "dare to do right, dare to be true, you have a work that no other can do". I knew at a young age that I wanted to be apart of God's work. That he sent me here on earth to do a great work. I believe a significant part of that work is being a mother. The teachings of the restored gospel have been the biggest help to me as a mother.

How I live my faith

I love to teach. Currently I teach the teachers of other organizations in the church. Together we learn about how to be effective teachers. I believe that "the major role of a teacher is to prepare the way such that the people [taught] will have a spiritual experience with the Lord". I also enjoy spending time at Camp Batel (a summer camp for young women ages 12-18). "Batel" is the Hebrew word for "daughter of God". I love to study the scriptures, especially by topic. I visit a lady with Alzhiemer in a nursing home every month. We often sing together.
