Hi I'm Dave Whelan

I live in Denver, I work in banking and I'm married, father of three kids (almost four, my wife is due in November).

About Me

I am a husband to a wonderful wife and three active children (with one on the way). I work in Commercial Banking and love spending time in the mountains backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing etc. I read extensively, typically I am reading two or three books at any given time where one usually consists of a historical fiction or biography and the other is typically a business/finance book. Also love sports especially college football. Although with two of my three kids having absolutely nothing to do with sports especially football, I find myself out numbered when it comes to watching it on TV.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the faith of my parents and the religion in which I was raised. There comes a point in everyone's life when they are raised in a religion that they must ask questions and really find out for themselves if it is true. I have done this (many times) and know that I have found the truth. I continue to be a Mormon because living after the principles of the Gospel I have realized true happiness. As I continue to study the scriptures I find that my perspective on life has a certain clarity that is difficult to verbalize. Being a Mormon has allowed me to identify the most important things in my life and has resulted in a much deeper and fulfilling relationship with my wife and children. Life and family life has become so important to me.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is very simple. I try to learn about the gospel and what God's will is and try to live it. I know that I often fall short but realize through the atonement of Jesus Christ I can get back on the right track and continue to work on becoming the kind of person God wants me to be. I go to church weekly and read the scriptures every day because I find that it gives me the spiritual strength I need.
