Hi I'm Mike

I was raised in California. I play baseball and Fastball. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The best way I know to describe myself is to first look at where I am from. I was born in Sacramento, CA as the 5th "miracle baby" child to our family. Doctors had told my parents they would not have any more kids but then I came! And just to prove to the Doctor how wrong he was, my parents then had my younger brother and 5 younger sisters! In total, there are 11 of us kids, 4 boys and 7 girls. Growing up in such a large family was never boring, and staying active and busy with family has continued to be how I enjoy living my life! I now am fortunate to have a beautiful family with my gorgeous wife and 4 daughters. My focus and energy is working to be the best husband and father I can to them. Much of my free time these days are spent driving to watch my family perform in recitals or choir concerts, sporting events, or at home up late helping with homework. Some of my greatest joy has come in watching my family take on a personal challenge and succeed in overcoming them! We love to travel and see new places together and build new memories and family traditions. I enjoy the performing arts, watching movies, and playing Baseball. Professionally, I wear many hats within the IT industry; Analyst, Project Manager, Tester, Trainer, and Teacher. I love the variety and daily challenges I face and love learning new things. And I guess my profession fits me well; being the liasion as a middle child and now as a liasion between the business and IT.

Why I am a Mormon

Quite simply, because I have asked God through my own study, fasting, and prayer and He has born witness of its truth through the power of the Holy Spirit. I was born and raised a Mormon, so I have been familiar with the doctrine of the Church my whole life. And although I grew up in the Church, I have spent countless hours investigating and challenging and pondering and praying upon the principles of the gospel to search for the truth for myself. What has come from all that hope, faith, and work is a knowledge independent of anyone or anything that God is real; that I am one of His children and that He loves me and knows me perfectly. He has a divine purpose and plan for me and each of His children to return to be with Him and become more like Him. As a father, this concept makes perfect sense to me. Our existence on this Earth is part of that divine plan - a chance to learn and grow as much as we can away from His presence, and a test to see if we will search Him out, learn of His plan, and follow it back to Him to receive an eternal reward! He has given all of us what we need to succeed; a Savior to redeem us from our imperfect state, prophets and apostles to teach us the plan, and His Church with all the necessary authority and ordinances to get home again! Although we are not perfect, I love that the gospel in its fullness provides an equal opportunity for all of God's children to fulfill the plan by returning home to God and receive all that He has. I consider this knowledge a gift from God, and I strive to live the kind of life like my Savior Jesus Christ lived and gave me an example to follow. I know Jesus is the way home, so that is the way I want to go!

How I live my faith

The beauty of the Church is that it is made up of all the members sacrificing and serving one another! I have had the opportunity to serve in many areas within the Church, and each one has been a challenge and growing experience for me, and hopefully has blessed others besides me along the way (in spite of me)! Right now I am the Primary Chorister, which means I get the opportunity to teach and sing with the younger children in our congregration each Sunday! To stand in front of nearly 100 kids ranging in ages of 3-11 years old for nearly 1.5 hours per week to teach them Church hymns and new songs about the gospel - what a daunting task! I love the energy, enthusiasm, excitement, and Spirit these kids bring each week; they are so innocent and honest and refreshing to work with. And although I am mostly very tired after every Sunday worship, I can honestly say there have been times I have never felt better or more invigorated then after watching, listening, and feeling the Spirit move me with these angelic voices.
