Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in So. California, but now live in Colorado. I work in education and I have a passion for genealogy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in education and have always loved working with students. My high school sweetheart and I have been married for 43 years. We have 6 wonderful children, 3 sons, followed by 3 daughters. We also have 21 beautiful grandchildren. My family is one of the best and most important things in my life. I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. Some things I enjoy are researching my family history, reading a good book, taking walks, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member for 35 years. I did not grow up in the church, although I was raised a christian. It was during our early years as a married couple that we were introduced to the church by some good friends. Our marriage, at the time, was struggling and we knew there was something missing in our lives, but we just didn't know what it was. When we discovered the church, it brought such peace and contentment to our life. It meant so much to us to find a church that stressed the great importance of family. Becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been by far the best thing that has happened to our family. I have found so much joy and happiness in knowing my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ live. He leads and guides me day by day and I can't imagine my life without the gospel of Jesus Christ. One of my greatest challenges happened not long ago, when one of my sons died in a car accident. Now, here was a possible turning point in my faith, but I needed my faith to stay strong, because I needed God in my life more than ever. I knew there was only one way I was going to have the courage to get through this tragedy, and that was to stay close to my Heavenly Father and lean on Him. It was during this tragic time in my life that God lifted me up from the depths of my despair and gave me the peace I needed. Although I will always miss my son, I know that through my faith, I can be with him again someday.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things is to help people with their family history. I find it very exciting to help them discover things about their ancestors. I have had a lot of success as a Family History Consultant, especially through programs called Ancestry and Family Search. I also have the great opportunity to visit some of the ladies in my congregation at least once a month just to make sure all is well with them and their families, to see if there is anything I can do for them and to share a spiritual message. Everyday, I can live my faith by being an example to the people around me. I love being a member, attending church and church activities. I honestly can't imagine where I would be if the gospel of Jesus Christ hadn't come into my life. It is the best thing that we have been able to give our children, along with a happy home, with happy parents, devoted to following Jesus Christ.
