Hi I'm Cory

I’m into music, summer barbeques, and foods made mostly of sugar. I'm a law student and a dad. I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a tamed Parrothead, and a Seminole who bleeds garnet and gold. I enjoy traveling to new places and had the privilege of traveling abroad while serving in the Navy. I'm a devoted husband and father of two beautiful girls, and I love the time I get to spend with them. I recently undertook a career change, and am currently tackling the rigors of law school. I love constantly learning new things. Although law school covets much of my time, I enjoy composing on the piano, dabbling in graphic design, and unwinding to popcorn and a movie. I love festive holidays, the summer sun, and most of all, I love being my kid's dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I gained a strong testimony of Jesus Christ through my Catholic upbringing, but I struggled with many doctrinal questions which remained, for me, unanswered. The vast spectrum of doctrinal viewpoints espoused throughout the world only fueled my belief that religious affiliation was not as important as your personal relationship with God. As missionaries later taught me about Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness, I learned that everything isn't left up to mystery, but that answers in fact do exist. Through sincere prayer, I gained a personal witness of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I found comforting, the knowledge that God continues to guide us through a living Prophet and that the Church of Jesus Christ exists today just the same as it did during His ministry. I now have a more eternal perspective on life and the choices I make in it. As a result, I no longer allow the comforts of life to dictate my beliefs, but rather I strive to ensure that my beliefs guide and shape my lifestyle. I turn to Heavenly Father in daily prayer, for guidance in all I do and for help to become a better father, a better husband, and a better person. I am blessed to have the Priesthood in my life, and to have the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide me. I am grateful for the testimony that I have of the Restored Gospel, and for the happiness it has brought to my life.

How I live my faith

In my relatively short time in the Church, I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve in the Church and in the community. Each calling I have received in the Church has at times placed me slightly outside my comfort zone, but has helped me to grow as a person and to discover new and hidden talents that I possess. Although I have learned a great deal in all of my service capacities, among the most rewarding have been my service with the youth. Serving as a Sunday school teacher for 8 year-old's was a wonderful experience in which I was able to get to know and to connect with the youth. The light of Christ is truly the strongest in our youth, and I was privileged to be taught by them each week.
